Live 105, the legendary Bay Area alternative rock radio station, will return to the airwaves on Monday, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The switch from 105.3 Dave FM to Live 105 will occur at 10:53 a.m. Monday, according to the report.

"The people have spoken, and we are excited to answer the call,” Stacey Kauffman, regional vice president and market manager for Audacy San Francisco and Sacramento, told the Mercury News. "After a six-year hiatus, Live 105 — the Bay Area’s Alternative – has returned to the airwaves. We are proud to bring back this local favorite that gives our loyal listeners and favorite Alternative artists from the '90s to today a place to call home again, right here in the Bay Area."

Audacy, the owner of the station, rebranded the station from Live 105 to Alt 105.3 in 2017, largely keeping the same music format. In 2021, Audacy switched from Alt 105.3 to 105.3 Dave FM, changing the programming from alternative rock to adult hits, dubbing it "Totally Random Radio."

"We will continue to honor Live 105's rich history and legacy by bringing back brand mainstays such as 'Soundcheck' with Aaron Axelsen and other familiar voices while collaborating with Live 105 alumnus 'Miles The DJ' in guiding the evolution of Live 105 into the future," brand manager John Allers told the Mercury News.

And the station marked its return by choosing the Bay Area’s own Green Day to kickstart the new chapter in Live 105’s long and distinguished history. So mark down “Welcome to Paradise” as the answer to the future Bay Area rock ‘n’ roll trivia question: “What was the first song Live 105 played when it returned to the airwaves in 2023?”

BS. The only legendary radio station was KFAT out of Freedom, CA. They had THE most extensive library of folk that became rock music; and FAT-grams, little bits of nonsense that folks were feeling at the time. Over an afternoon you would recognize a tune you heard earlier, but from a different time, and then they'd sneak yet another version in ...

... And the Free Mexico Air Force is flying tonight .....

Live 105. Wow. Blast from the past. The Morning Show in the 1990’s was horrendous: four hours of laughing and commercials. One funny thing that I remember was when the Morning Show hosts at Live 105 went to Phoenix for a week and called it “The Land of Yesterday.”

Live 105? Never heard of them.

They sound like KROQ (Los Angeles) or 91X (San Diego) knockoffs.

Wake me up when 98.5 KOME goes back on the air.

“Don’t touch that dial, there’s KOME on it!”

“KOME is oozing out of your speakers...”

Yes, they used to actually say this stuff on the air!
