HILO, Hawaii — Children’s Day was approaching, and K.T. Cannon-Eger was on task, directing the cutting of towering bamboo stalks from the thick grove at Liliuokalani Park and Gardens, affixing to them more than 250 Japanese carp windsocks known as koinobori and relaying to volunteers where they should be planted for the upcoming celebration.

“More of our pathways are going underwater at high tide,” Cannon-Eger says, adding that studies have predicted the historic grounds, donated by Queen Liliuokalani herself, will be completely submerged within 80 years if trends continue.
Hawaii, an island state on the front lines of climate change, is the first, and so far the only, state in the nation to declare a climate emergency, and already, the state’s courts are taking note. State officials are not just reacting to climate change, but taking steps to slow its progress, often using a human rights framework to pursue their climate agenda. At the same time, some critics – including a vocal group of young people – are using rights-based language to push the state to do even more.
Hawaii’s record on the environment is reflected in the 2023 U.S. News Best States Rankings. The Aloha State earned the top spot in the natural environment category, doing particularly well in terms of air and water quality.
Still, some are concerned about threats to the state’s future. U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda, a freshman Democrat representing Hawaii’s sprawling 2nd Congressional District, notes she flies over the island chain often in the course of representing her constituents. “Looking out the window I literally see climate change on our doorstep,” she says.

There is a silver lining in the Climate Change scam. If a source is pushing this fake science it automatically reveals it as worthless propaganda. Simply cross off such sources from your list of credible sources.
Better shut down all those volcanoes. Of course, volcanoes do create more shoreline while also killing the planet.

So stupid. “King’s Tide” has always inundated Waikiki. That entire area is a reclaimed swamp and before the canals were built it was frequently under water. I have been fishing the same spot on the other side by Kaneohe nearly 40 years. There is a nail driven in to a rock that people have tied their boats to. The nail is more or less the same at low tide and high tide that it has always been.
But poor Obama. Didn’t he know his house is doomed after spending all that money and getting exemptions not available to anyone else building on the beach?
Yes that’s been flowing lave for the last 30 years but it’s only mankind that’s causing climate change huh.
Never mind the other 2000 volcanoes on the ocean floor many of them cranking toxic gases.
