I was 12 years old and remember the Bicentennial celebration across America and the world for that matter. It lasted for a year at least. I remember a lot of thing done to commemorate it, bike centennial route across America, Bicentennial quarters, parades everywhere, etc. It really was a great time to be an American.

1976 was also the year Rick Monday saved the American flag from being burned by two democrats.

The options:
Semiquincentennial.
Sestercentennial.
Quarter Millennial.
“The United States Semiquincentennial,[a] also called Sestercentennial or Quarter Millennial, will be the 250th anniversary of the 1776 United States Declaration of Independence (formally “The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united states of America”).”

I
posted 6 days ago that the next prez will be the prez on 2026 when we celebrate the 250th. DeSantis (and some other Republicans) as prez would speak highly of the U.S. instead of apologizing for it like the Dims. But Trump is the only one who every now and then is highly effusive with praise for the country like a fanboy watching his team run into the end zone. Even folks who usually want a prez acting a bit uncivilized would probably want one doing stuff like this in 2026.

i think we’d settle for hot dogs and burgers we can afford again - and we know who knows how to engineer the economy to perform.

I was a 16 year old in 1976 during the Bicentennial, living in Philadelphia. One of the best years of my life.
I look very much forward to 250 and bringing my kids together to celebrate with us.

This is how you win an election. Rallying the country behind something is a great path forward. Also, this is a great way to turn the Rats into debt hawks since they don’t want money spent on America

I was only 15, ya geezer. It was grand: Freedom Train, CBS’ Bicentennial Minute every night etc etc .I can just imagine what an America-bashing guilt-ridden disaster it will be if we elect a rat President to preside over it

i was living in NYC in 1976 - and will never forget the tall ships. it was a time of renewed patriotism - and we could use a massive injection of that. of course we’ll have to decide whose history we’re going to use...

Me too. It’s the only thing that has the right amount of, um, “complexity.” Like “Bicentennial” had.

I do remember. It really was an incredible moment when you
look back. Nation wide too.
Also knew a guy that customized his (new) '76 Van, Bicentennial.
