In true Michael Scott fashion, two Hawaii tourists followed their GPS right into the water.
On April 29, a tourist drove a Dodge Caravan into the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, according to Hawaii News Now.
Christie Hutchinson, who was at the harbor after sailing with a group of friends and her husband, posted a video of the event on social media. She said the two tourists were using GPS to find a manta ray tour and may have been confused because there was a car on the ramp to pull a boat out of the water, according to the Washington Post.
“It was so confidently done; they didn’t have a look of panic on their face. They were still smiling,” Hutchinson said.
In the video, the windshield wipers continue to move as rain pours down. As the car sinks, the front-seat passenger escapes through their window and swims to shore. Several people jump into the water to help the driver, who has trouble getting out of the vehicle, and attach a buoy to the van using ropes. On a rental car???
Hahahaha I came into this thread with the sole purpose of seeing this posted somewhere!
Lol same here!
GPS has had people mistake our private one-lane road for US 20. Happens all the time.
When I lived on my boat in the Ala Wai boat harbor in Honolulu, this happened about once a month. Some tourist would drive down the launch ramp and sink their rental car even before people were mindlessly following GPS.
People are just stupid.
Tourists seem to think they are on a E ticket ride instead of in a real city with real world consequences.
Some dumb b!tch did this just a few weeks ago, must be a feature of tourists to do.
It’s those stinking Kauai chickens.
Is it the Annual Laugh at Haole Day again?
They are lucky they didn’t drive into a lava flow.
But that would have been more understandable.
