“Headless Body Found in Topless Bar”

Almost headless body. The manager's throat was slit, but not quite completely, but why spoil a good headline?

How did they come up with his name?

What do they know about him, his family/friends, etc.

Were missing persons reports filed?

This article leave a lot to be desired in the way of reporting.

Well, you can’t just kill someone and take their heart out and then show up at a hospital with it and say “I found a donor!”

I suppose you might find some shady doctor somewhere who might not worry about the provenance of an organ, but it’s not likely a shady doctor would be skilled enough to do a heart transplant. Plus there is the fact that a donor must be alive when the organ is removed. An organ from a dead person is useless for transplants.

“How did they come up with his name?”

I would guess they took his DNA and submitted it to companies like “23 & Me” to see if any close relatives also had submitted their DNA. Find a second cousin and then you can trace him back from there.

“Well over 100 years later.”

Well, that’s if you believe Jack the Ripper didn’t relocate to America to continue killing for a few more decades!

I’m sure the sheriff is keeping the details a secret until an arrest is made..................

“get sexual satisfaction just from exercising that kind of power over an unwilling victim.”

And not getting caught and getting away with it.

His feet, which had been tied with rope, were chewed off by animals, but the hands were cut off. A suspicious vehicle had been seen nearby. He had been killed elsewhere and dumped in that location.

Eventually a body will float after it starts to decay and fills with decomposition gasses. My former congressman’s father was murdered in 1972 and found washed up on the beach a few days later even thouh he was weighted down with concrete blocks.

The perpetrator seems to have WANTED this to be noticed, and is connected to the victim enough that he (fat chance of a she doing this type of thing) believed that if the body was identified, he’d be tied to the victim. And lo and behold the sheriff says that the recent id’ing points out persons of interest.

Article does not reveal some interest data, such as was the victim reported missing in Santa Barbara? Did the victim travel to Alabama or was he taken there? Connections to people who lived in the area the body was found?

If the killer was familiar with the area and had time, maybe they would have done that (too). At the time, I imagine fingerprints, footprints, and dental records would be the clues the killer was worried about law enforcement gathering. JM.02

they are likely a serial killer who won’t stop until caught.

Or it could have been a drug cartel, mafia or gang related.

“Well, that’s if you believe Jack the Ripper didn’t relocate to America to continue killing for a few more decades!”

I was watching some mysteries show and they said that they had a shawl supposedly recovered at one of the crime scenes that had a blood DNA match to Catherine Eddowes (I think), and a semen Mitochondrial DNA (less precise) to a female relative of Aaron Kosminski.

I was curious and found other articles that release more details. He was never reported missing and family did not know he was missing or dead. That leads me to believe a runaway “with the circus” and probably drug lifestyle whose parents kicked him out of the house, or a home life situation so toxic that they didn’t care what happened to him. One article I read said the sheriff’s office was withholding the reason why he was not reported missing.

Both parents are still living and submitted DNA. There was also a close relative found in Tennessee, who directed them to the parents in California.

Other articles speculated his heart and spleen were removed to hide evidence, such as bullet fragments or stab wounds.

I did not read anything about his feet being tied and animals chewing off his feet. Where did that come from?
