Rotten Tomatoes wants you to think The Little Mermaid remake earned a near-perfect audience score
BGR ^

Critics have clearly responded to the movie with a collective “meh,” since that 67% score above is just a few percentage points away from the site’s “rotten” designation that starts at 59%. However, take a look at that near-perfect audience score. Quite a lopsided response here, don’t you think? The audience score is a very stellar 95%, based on more than 2,500 verified audience ratings (and that “verified” designation is important, which is why we’ll come back to it in just a moment).

The movie review website Rotten Tomatoes is under fire for their apparent dismissal of negative reviews of the movie The Little Mermaid, which starrs a black actress replacing a traditionally white character.

You would think that a movie review site would desperately cling to reputation of impartiality… RT sold out to the woke narratives long ago.

Best place to get an honest review these days is The Critical Drinker, IMHO.

He is definitely not impressed with this film.

For Memorial Day weekend, it’s not that great, also consider it had little competition.

It will drop off bigly this week.

there are frequently movies that have a wide difference. I saw one recently that critics hated but audience loved. Dont remember what it was..one of the old movies.

Bohemian Rhapsody audience loved it more than critics

Apparently MSM has been able to protect Disney. I had hoped this thing would bomb. Americans are far too willing willing to ignore having their values destroyed as long as they get a couple of hours of entertainment

“But did they make the story politically correct???”

A well-loved movie of a classic European fairy tale was remade to feature a black in a role written as a white character. It wasn’t done to make a better version of the movie, or to correct errors in the storyline. It was done simply to pander to blacks. I guess all movies will have to be remade with blacks as the lead characters. Blacks would raise hell about it if if the roles were reversed.

on Rotten the percentages are pretty similar for top gun.

I often go look at trivia on old movies when I watch them. Some get really panned when released but later become classics. Citizen kane is one of them, IIRC.

There is a rumor about Mickey Rooney and Elizabeth Taylor as per one of the ex wives of Rooney. Kind of ruined her wide eyed innocent performance for me.
