Taliban claims: 'We will conquer Iran soon' amid water dispute

The Taliban threatened on Sunday that it could conquer Iran as tensions increase over water disputes between Afghanistan and Iran, leaving at least three people dead.
Senior Taliban commander Abdulhamid Khorasani, aka Nasser Badri, has in a video message warned that the group will fight against Iranians "with more passion" than they did against the US forces. "We will conquer Iran soon if Taliban's leaders give the green light for jihad."

Sunni Muslim fundamentalists against Shi Muslim fundamentalists.
In some ways it is bad news, because the Mullahs of Tehran could use a war with the Taliban as a rallying cry for “unity” among all Iranians, and it might work; blunting the opposition protests against the Mullahs.
If it became a full fledged war, I think the Taliban would lose initially, as they did in 2001, after which Iran would retreat leaving another Afghan destabilized failed state.
The larger question is what would Pakistan do, if anything?
