At the time of its release, Frampton Comes Alive! was an anomaly, a multi-million-selling (mid-priced) double LP by an artist who had previously never burned up the charts with his long-players in any spectacular way. The biggest-selling live album of all time, it made Peter Frampton a household word and generated a monster hit single in "Show Me the Way." And the reason why is easy to hear: the Herd/Humble Pie graduate packed one hell of a punch on-stage -- where he was obviously the most comfortable --

Fun fact. Frampton’s daughter was the girl in “Bridesmaids” who got into a verbal altercation with Kristin Wiig at the jewelry counter.
Yep.
Ima Budokan man. I wore out an eight track and two cassettes in my Camaro.
Mine was always “Double Live Gonzo!” Those versions of Stranglehold and Great White Buffalo were tremendous.
Good list. Add the Live at Fillmore by the Allman Bros.
Still works great. I guess now I'm going to have to fire it up tonight =)
as the creator of the talk box, Bob Heil, explains, Peter’s girlfriend at the time knew he was fascinated with the talk box (going back to Alvino Ray and Pete Drake) and she called Bob (who was the sound system provider) and asked if he had one she could buy for a birthday present for Peter. Bob gave her one, and the rest is history.
I went to a Bowie concert in the late 80s in NC. Frampton was on lead guitar.
He and Bowie were childhood friends.
in 1980, at a garage sale, I picked up a pink-vinyl version of the album. Anyone know what the significance of this is? I heard that it is pink to signify that it was pressed in the UK. Anyone know? Can I sell it and retire?
Great album although they say it wasn't live and it wasn't at Leeds.
or the J Geils Band Live. Those old time bands could ROCK. Nobody does that anymore.
He used to come into my Radio Shack from time to time. This would be in the early to mid 1980’s. He didn’t look good then.
Correct.
It’s all about 30 people sync-dancing to filthy rap lyrics while making lewd gestures with their hands and crotch................
It was my sophomore year…but my brothers were a couple years older…it was always on in their cars.
I saw Bowie in ‘83 and ‘87, and Frampton was with him on one of them, pretty sure it was ‘87. Not only were they childhood friends, Frampton’s father was one of Bowie’s teachers at some point.
I always thought Frampton Comes Alive was overrated, and I was pretty tired of it by around July, 76. Of course, something like five billion people disagreed with me.
Yeah, it was on the radio constantly.
Yes, 6/22/23 in Cincinnati. He did have heakth issues as I understand it. He is calling the the “Never Say Never Tour”.
I’ve seen him a couple of times. Always good.
I have to go with “One More From the Road” by Lynyrd Skynyrd - that southern rock stuff was right in my wheelhouse for some reason. :-)
