MILLER LITE CARB DAY Friday, May 26 at 11:00am on Peacock network.
A bit of history:
For those that don't know Carb Day was the last chance to make any final adjustments to the engine fuel mixture and tuneup back in the days when the cars still used Carburetors before Fuel Injection replaced them. It was also the last chance for making any changes and adjustments to the cars.
These days it is the last chance to fine tune the setup of the car's suspension, make sure that the drivetrain has no leaks or other problems before Sunday's Indy 500.
End that history lesson.
It’s racing. It’s rock ‘n roll. It’s pure bliss. Miller Lite Carb Day is the ultimate turbo boost into the greatest weekend in racing! This high-octane party features some of the most exciting action on (and off) the track as the world revs its engines for the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Let’s get Back to Rock Friday, May 26.
JEWEL TO PERFORM NATIONAL ANTHEM AT INDIANAPOLIS 500 May 19, 2023 | By Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Joins Must-Watch Pre-Race Show on NBC
Jewel, a multi-platinum singer-songwriter, actress, mental health lived experience expert and best-selling author, will perform the national anthem before the start of the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 28 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“The singing of the national anthem before the Indy 500 green flag is a signature and iconic moment at the Racing Capital of the World,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles. “For over a century, we’ve gathered at IMS to salute our nation’s military heroes, and the national anthem performance is a tradition that reminds us all of their sacrifice and bravery. Jewel’s rendition will be a memorable and moving experience for fans at the track and watching from home on NBC.”
As a lived experience expert and pioneer in the mental health space, Jewel is passionate about democratizing wellness. She developed an emotional and mental health curriculum that has been proven to work by experts. For 21 years, her Inspiring Children Foundation and Jewel Inc. have been bringing these mental health programs to at-risk youth and to corporations. She recently joined the innovative mental health platform Innerworld as co-founder and chief strategy officer to make mental health support more accessible to all. Jewel also created SELLA, a language arts curriculum for schools that incorporates social and emotional learning and mental health practices.
Jewel went from a girl who grew up with no running water on an Alaskan homestead [The Kilcher family are relatives of the singer Jewel, with Atz being her father] to earning 26 music award nominations, becoming a multi-platinum recording artist who released one of the best-selling albums of all time.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a cause and conversation in which the INDYCAR paddock has been an active participant.

Rahal, who was bumped from the field during qualifications, will fill in for Stefan Wilson, who was injured in a crash during Monday’s practice.
Rahal will start from the 33rd position in a car fielded by Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and Cusick Motorsports.
Team owners said Wilson was “pretty crushed emotionally” after suffering a fracture of the 12th thoracic vertebrae and learning he would be unable to race. He’d qualified in 25th position, placing him in Row 9.
Rahal was honored to field the call about being the replacement driver, although he admitted there were some logistical challenges. A longtime Honda driver, Rahal will take the wheel of a Chevy. Both manufacturers had to sign off on the deal, as did Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
“This is certainly Stef’s ride, it’s his seat, and he’s done a great job to get it to the point that it is,” Rahal said. “I certainly feel for Stef. I know how much he puts into this year in and year out.”
Rahal was formerly a teammate of Stefan Wilson’s brother, Justin Wilson, who died in a crash in 2015. The Wilson family has had a “strong impact” on him, Rahal said.
“He was just a tremendous, tremendous guy,” Rahal said of Justin. “In this circumstance… it felt right.”
Bobby’s kid, I assume?
Yes, Bobby’s son.
Thank You.
Correctamundo !
Ya mind if I use the F1 list here ?
Yes. Average open wheel racer whose dad owns the team. Like Marco Andretti.
Nothing like the Indy 500. Watched the race since 1972. Attended the race in 2015.
Nothing like the Indy 500
When are they going to rename it the rainbow 500?
Lord, there better be fire and brimstone before that ever happens!
I used to listen to it on the radio as a kid, because ABC only broadcast it at night.
Good God, does everything have to be about some cause? Can’t it just be about racing?
My son and i were there last year, always a great time.
I’m guessing there will be no Bud lite sponsored car this year.
There’s a “changing of the guard” happening too in IndyCars — as there has recently been in F1 — as the “old guard” qualifies more and more away from the front row, in many, if not all, races. Power, Dixon, Castroneves, Newgarden etc are further down in the pack. I remember it happening with Foyt, Andretti, Rutherford, Unser etc, as the years went by.
It looked just like this. He still looks back and asks Himself why he didn't keep it.
I’m pretty sure that won’t happen while The Captain owns the Track and Series.
Fully agree, I almost edited that out. My bad, sorry.🙁
LOL !!!
Just wait until the sounds of the EVs whispering by brings chills to your spine. 🙄🏎️🏁
That’s right. It’s been blacked out for most of the time. Still is.
One thing I didn’t know before moving to the Indy area is that all of May is dedicated to the race around here. Checkered flags go up all around town. That’s because of all the trial runs they do before the big race.
I have never been to the actual race, though a lot of people here go frequently. I have been to the Brickyard and “kissed the bricks”. It’s a cool place.
One funny story I have is that years ago, my UPS man was delivering a large number of packages to our house. So as he unloaded the items, we chatted. He told me that he was going to be retiring soon. Then he told me he had been working as a pit crew member at the Speedway, and that his goal was to one day get a ring for being on the winning pit crew. He had the style and everything picked out. He carried around the order form as motivation, and he showed it to me. That was probably 5 or 6 years ago. He did indeed retire from UPS shortly after that.
Fast forward to 2021. We watched Helio Castoneves win that year. Before I knew it, I saw Johnny on the TV screen drinking milk with Helio and the rest of the crew! He was so excited, and I was excited for him!! Cool achievement, bro!
