More than 90% of Calif. pot farms infected with ‘severe’ pathogen

An infectious pathogen inside California’s pot farms is attacking cannabis plants and growing invisibly for months only to spoil a crop just as a farmer is ready to harvest. Scientists believe that it’s in nearly every pot farm in the state and could be causing billions of dollars in damages to the national weed economy. Hop-latent viroid, or HLVd, shrivels pot plants and reduce how much weight they produce by as much as 30%. It also destroys the amount of THC, pot’s most common active compound, that a plant produces, greatly reducing the value of affected plants.

HLVd was first identified in hop plants, a close relative of cannabis, in the 1980s. It’s now commonly found in hop farms and can reduce the amount of aromatic compounds produced by hops, which are primarily used to flavor beer.

Mexican cartels at work.

The cartels have been growing pot in several western states for over forty years. It was easier and cheaper to grow on public land and steal the water than it was to try and get it over the border.

How will this affect our beer supply, given that it is a hop disease?

During the 80s war on drugs, I always wondered why we didn’t develop a pathogen or insect to destroy the Coca and poppy plants. We could get grasshoppers addicted and then drop them over the fields, problem solved.

You think the CIA was going to let that happen to their cash cow?

Nah. We just hate addicts. And libertarians. Wait. That was redundant. Never mind.

That’s good start. Go, weed-destroying pathogen! “

That weed-destroying stuff has yet to make it to northern Illinois!

My lawn is about half crabgrass and the rest is some green-colored weed.

They each seem to hold their own territory after many years of struggle.

This stuff may be helpful as I prefer the thick mat of the crabgrass.

—”Good. Less money into the pockets of the cartel owners.”

Unfortunately not so.

They simply add a light dusting of Chinese fentanyl and some lawn trimmings to bulk up the order.

—”They still haven’t sold a lot of last year’s crop, and wholesale prices were down 90%.”

Is that a reflection of the OFFICAL CALIFORNIA MEDICAL MARIJUANA MARKET?

the vertically integrated cartel marketplace?

Or some dude’s garden market?

If anyone even looks like they might be contaminating my tomato plants-—
we are armed and ready.

We had a humongous mulberry tree and most of the critters in DuPage County would visit for a treat, no coyotes but often see them nearby.

Once there were photos of an unknown female person walking through the back of our property?????

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus is injected into tomato plants when infected white flies dine on the plants ... this can happen at the nursery when the seedlings are raised, or at retail shops that leave the plants in the open air or after you bring the plants home ...

you won’t know the plants are infected until they start to fruit and then you notice the fruit is stunted and the plants start to wither ... the only prevention option is to guard the plants throughout their life cycle, either with continuous use of pesticides or sealed greenbouses to keep out white flies ...
