Just got back from the grocery store and saw an elderly couple (most likely married) step out of their vehicle sporting masks. Saw a few idiots in the store wearing them as well.

We went to The Cure concert last week in Albuquerque. There was this one trio wearing masks and they just looked absolutely ridiculous dancing to the opening act with their masks on. 😄 Right before the Cure took to the stage a masked man and his wife took their seats with the man sitting next to my 16 year old son. We were fourth row from the stage so this was probably a Covidphobes worst nightmare with people squeezed together and going crazy being close to the band. This couple left midway through the concert. I couldn’t imagine going to a rock concert wearing a mask.
All antimaskers are idiots. They do not think with fine distinctions. They want people to believe masks do nothing. It is true masks do not stop all transission or disease completely. But, you point out one need to protect people with masks. For 40 years I have watched people come to church from a close by teaching hospital masked. Like your wife, most are chemo patients or transplant patients.
They wear masks because thinkers who can make fine distinctions know masks can reduce transmission somewhat and, if contracted can reduce severity of disease. Universal masking does the above better. We may hear all studies prove masks do not work. Few studies are done by fine thinkers, but rather those with an agenda.
If you do not believe me, read Dr. Robert Redfield, head of cdc under Trump AND silenced by the group of experts which the Trump admin formed, and to which Fauci also belonged.
Yup. The government and the media psychologically damaged the twenty-something demographic. Yes, there are probably some old farts who have legitimate medical issues (compromised immune systems from the frankenshot for instance), but there are a LOT of younger adults walking around all bug eyed with masks still - walking around outside on warm sunny days, driving by themselves, handling produce with their bare hands that a hundred other shoppers handled...

Sometimes if I don’t shave I like to wear a mask. Don’t look like such a bum in public.
The point is those masks do not protect the owner from others having potential viral/bacterial infections. They do protect (to a degree) the others from the mask owner if he/she is infected with bacterial infection, but not from the viral one. That is why a surgeon wears mask during surgery, and his patient does not.

Yup....I have a family member that can’t go outside without a mask on right now. The pollen count is off the charts.
But outside of that, I think that the mask wearers are wearing them because a) they believed the scam and can’t let it go that they’ve been duped and b) the higher CO2 content from past mask wearing has damaged their brains.....
A friend told me a couple they know are just getting over Covid and are signed up for their sixth vaccine. What’s with that?

Sadly, I see them every week when I go to the V.A, which is next to (almost same building) as Tripler Army Medical Center.
ONLY V.A. and the V.A. medical clinic are forced to wear them. Everywhere else on base (ALL of the other bases, as far as I know) is optional, including the medical center.
They want to protect their respiratory systems from etc. but they don’t actually accomplish that. They are not very smart. Masks do not do what they are advised to be able to do. The only thing that masks actually do is concentrate moisture and carbon dioxide in the wearers’ mouths and noses.

After many years of mistreating overactive immune system problems like eczema, and its most seen illness atopic dermatitis, they have finally discovered that treating the effected spot with creams and ointments are just putting out fires, maybe. However, there are an estimated 23.5M people in the US alone being treated for overactive immune systems that attack themselves that include illnesses like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and thyroid disease that are finally getting notice and are being treated internally. Drug like Dupixent, Adbry, Xolair, Rinvoq, and Cibinqo are injectables to weaken the system’s capacity. There are also a number of oral treatments like Prednisone which cannot be used extensively.
But many of these have warnings to them. Cibinqo can cause an increased risk of serious infections that can lead to hospitalization or even death. So for that reason people treated with these medications are susceptible and highly reactive to colds, flu, or any other cardiovascular illness and they are in danger with each one. The mask, even though it is not the total answer, does help.

Cloth mask protect you from nothing. If they are afraid of catching germs then they need to wear a full blown hazmat suit.
And of course you got haughty snobs from the $hithole state of Vermont calling others idiots.
The point is when your wife could die and the oncologist tells you to wear a mask, you do.
A lot of BS and theory gets tossed out the window when you have a little experience.
So many people are concerned about other’s behavior. I stopped giving a hoot what anyone thinks about mine. You don’t know me, or the reasons why I do stuff. And unless I am asking you to change your behavior, I am not sure why it matters so much you.
