Out-of-control crime in the Democrat-run city of Seattle forced the United States Postal Service (USPS) to pause deliveries to an entire zip code for a week.
Around 900 residents in the 98118 zip code did not receive their mail as delivery services were halted due to mail theft and 'equipment security concerns'.
They were told to pick up their mail from the local post office and stood in long queues of up to an hour while delivery services were paused for a week before UPS lifted the ban on Tuesday.
Thieves had stolen a master key which is used by the USPS to open collection boxes, cluster box units and outdoor parcel lockers.
It comes as Seattle continues to experience rampant crime, drug issues and battles huge rates of homelessness.
Residents who lived in the 98118 zip code claimed they were not told their deliveries were paused and instead found out through neighbors or on Facebook.
'Mail delivery to less than 900 residents in parts of south Seattle was affected last week because of equipment security concerns. Improvements to the affected equipment were made, and all mail was delivered to the impacted residents,' a USPS spokesman said.
'We appreciate the patience and understanding of the community as we work to preserve the safety and sanctity of the mail.'
A sign was posted on a mail container the neighborhood of Columbia which read: 'Due to the rise in mail theft and vandalism we will be holding all mail for your address. We do not have an exact date of when all master locks will be replaced.'
While delivery services were paused, residents were forced to wait in queues of up to an hour at their local postal annex.

Wasn’t Seattle one of the cities that had a no go zone back in 2020? I don’t see a problem here. if a city like Seattle is too dangerous for routine postal delivery service, then just don’t deliver the mail.
Yeah you are right I did.
Yes, it was called Here Come The Brides. It was a story that revolved around a true story about some men from Seattle making a trip to the East Coast (Boston, I think) to try to talk women into traveling to the Northwest to marry. There were a lot of working men (lumberjacks mostly) there; but, not enough women for them to marry. I believe that they made several trips back to the East to bring back brides.
When this show was on, I was in my early teens and wondered if it was a true story. Ends up, that it was a true story, a bit embellished; but, true.
Perry Como sang the theme song. "The bluest skies you'll ever see are in Seattle, and the hills the greenest, green in Seattle ---- etc.
You sure about that? I remember that show. I looked it up & Robert Vaughn (Napoleon Solo), David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin) were the top two guys. I didn’t see Soul listed in the cast for the TV show or movie (2015). I searched on “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” “Men From Uncle” produce that as well.
No I confused Soul with McCallum
That zip code covers all of Seward Park and part of Rainier Valley.
When I was much, much younger, I worked for United Airlines in their corporate office as a data input clerk. I got travel perks and San Francisco was one of my favorites for a visit.
You couldn't pay me to go to San Fran today.
El Paso is OFF LIMITS for Macys.com to send to!!! WILD!
What American calls a line a queue?
I remember hearing about some of that for Sherman. Looks like he turned out good to go. Back in the day us cool dudes couldn’t stand him. Teenybopper. We were into rock n roll, not bubble gum. We used the derogatory term, Peace, Love & Bobby Sherman when the booppers were about. ;O)
Cloward Piven doing its magic. It will only get worse.
David McCallum
Yup, it was called, “Here Come The Brides”.
Very few. However, this article is from a British web site so it's not surprising they would use the term.
THIS IS THE WAY TO END TOXIC INCENTIVES AND START THE PROCESS OF REBUILDING THE BLACK COMMUNITY. (I'm guessing it's a black community)
Trust me - it's sends the right message...
Ha ha ha ha ha.
clickbait headline: article says mail haltage was exclusively due to theft of a USPS master key and subsequent rekeying, and had zero to do with homelessness, drugs, street crime, shoplifting, etc. ...
