Beer analyst says Anheuser Busch went off rails when last family member - August Anheuser Busch III - retired and focus went from humor and sport to Miami art fair and Dylan Mulvaney

A beer analyst has pinpointed the moment that Anheuser-Busch began its billion-dollar decline, slamming the iconic brand's shift away from sport and humor after its founding dynasty lost control of the company.

Harry Schuhmacher, a 30-year veteran of the beer business and podcast host, said the brewery was doomed as soon as family patriarch - August Anheuser Busch III - retired from the company in 2006.

'I always looked up to and feared Anheuser Busch,' Schuhmacher said. 'They were the most respected, they knew the market better than anybody... August III knew that sports and humor were the way to get in.'

The company has made a series of marketing blunders in recent times, with Schuhmacher pointing to Anheuser Busch's involvement in ritzy art fair Art Basel Miami Beach as a prime example of it losing touch.

He said: 'It doesn't have to be NFL Football, I get it. But not Art Basel in Miami...'

The firm displayed limited edition cans created for its brand Michelob at the snooty event earlier this year, PRNewswire reported.

While Busch's old leadership saw the brand roll out hilarious adverts and focus on fan-friendly sports marketing, a new executive lineup has since reversed course.

Speaking on the BeerNet Studios podcast, Schuhmacher slammed the brand's demise, saying: 'So many people depend on Bud Light for their income.'

'I feel bad for Bud Light, and I feel bad for the employees and distributors who have to go out in the market and deal with this ********.'

The beer giant has come under mounting scrutiny for pushing woke advertising in its marketing campaigns, most notably through its recent collaboration with trans star Dylan Mulvaney.

You could change the name from Anheiser Busch to any number of companies and the story would be the same.

The founders who made the company rich and famous retired, new “experts” were brought in to “modernize” the brand, only to kill it in the process.

They problem was they employed college indoctrinated “educated” to these positions. They didn’t really learn squat about their field of expertise and it shows.
We see these college trained engineers come and go. They don’t know half of what the think they do!

In this case, after Auggie Busch retired in ‘06, his son “The Fourth” came in and promptly lost the company to InBev’s hostile takeover. “The Fourth” was/is a real piece of work, with a history of unfortunate young women dying in his company. And of course, “The Fourth” was/is a big supporter of the Democratic Party.

Anheuser Busch is fine...they’ve got the whole transgender community behind them...they’re OK.

I’d say it went of the rails decades earlier when the focus wasn’t BEER. If they put half as much work into the beer as the ads it would be the best beer on the planet.

M&M Mars moved toward WOKE for the same reasons is my guess - kink M&M's were as stupid as trans beer... When the heavy weight founders died the idiot 'elite' offspring moved in.

Same with Washington DC. And the bimbos of MSNBC.... It's not the 'best and brightest' anymore - merit's out the window....

Now it's Kink, Konnection, NEPO, and Kolor I'll bet these fools went to 'the best schools'... Hunter Biden's their poster boy.

The first generation heir gets 50% of the founder’s genes. The first generation heir also grew up while the company was being built and saw with its own eyes what it took to go from nothing to something great.

The second generation heir gets 25% of the founder’s genes. The second generation might have known the founder and depending on the relationship of the first generation to the founder might have valued what the founder created. Some second generation heirs carry on the family business, particularly if blessed with a first generation heir parent who was hard working and contributed to the development of the business.

The third generation heir receives 12.5% of the founder’s genes. Almost certainly the third generation did not know the founder and therefore has no direct knowledge of what it took to create the lifestyle the third generation enjoyed.

By the fourth generation the founder’s gene pool has mostly played out (6.25%) in terms of determining the intelligence, creativity and work ethic of the person. In addition by the fourth generation there have been three successive generations that have not had to worry about missing a meal and have been born and raised in luxury. Add to that indulgent child rearing and you have a receipt for failure.

Rarely do dynasties last to or past the fourth generation. By the fourth generation there may be 100 or more heirs, and the monthly allowances from the family trust are becoming too small to support the self indulgent lifestyles of the many non-working trust fund babies. Often the unproductive heirs find an attorney and friendly court to help them bust the trust, liquidate the assets and give out equal shares of the assets. They then squander the cash raised by selling the business leaving the next generation, or their grandchildren to learn again the value of hard work and the motivation of hunger.

Agreed, look at what’s happening at the Vegas Venetian Resort after Adelman passed. Those in charge are all bean counters and it shows.

#11 My grandfather started a business in 1908. His sons and a partner son took over then one of my uncles two sons took over and wanted to sell but were blocked by the three others that had a share. When the others got older they bought out those shares by lying to my uncle then promptly sold the company. 99 years in business and the 3rd generation sold it. Money divided by the 5 ‘kids’. I imagine the 4th generation will blow what remains of the money after my cousins are gone.
