It shows the sequence of the bastardization of the law to go from "you're entitled to have an attorney" to "the taxpayers will pay for your attorney" to "since there is no taxpayer-funded attorney, you will not be charged for your crime."
Yup, I noticed that too!
Also, wrong rims....................😉🤦♂️
And don’t park it on a street for two months.
I seem to have misplaced my Yugo. I think this might be it.
No kidding. Oregon DMV stinks. After the fire, I moved alot and trying to get them to make the proper changes was impossible. I still don’t have a replacement title and am driving around with expired plates. They are current and paid but Oregon just can’t send the current year stickers!
I got a letter saying they ran out of stickers!!! Duh
Not that I can recall, but given the average age of the drivers, it probably should have.
“That’s because the FBI’s National Crime Information Center purges from its system all unrecovered stolen vehicle records four years after the year a car was reported stolen.”
Those 9-track magnetic reel-to-reel mainframe tapes just can’t hold that much data.
9-tracks now?
They got new ones?......................
Like those Toyota Camrys that always seem to have a dent in the corner of one of the bumpers.
Prior to 1968, SS was strictly a trim package on the Novas. The base engine was a straight six. In 1968 that changed and the SS became a performance package for the Novas. And you are correct. The smallest engine offering for the 1968-1970 Nova SS was the 350, with two optional 396 offerings. And the only V-8 for the 1971-72 Nova SS was the 350. They dropped the 396 after 1970. In 1973, the SS became strictly a trim package again.
These always seemed to be prominent dents. Didn’t look like collision damage, either.
“Those 9-track magnetic reel-to-reel mainframe tapes just can’t hold that much data.”
We had to keep them at our DR site for Federal use. No joke.
The old mainframe reel to reel were 8 tracks with a 9th CRC check bit track. But I suspect that you knew this ... ;)
My first mainframe (IBM 360) had an enormous 256k magnetic storage unit - filed an entire cabinet IIRC.
The entire system was moved from Wichita Falls to an Odessa TX bank in the early 80’s as an emergency backup.
Don’t think that it was ever turned on - couldn’t afford the electricity bill for the testing.
I remember those days, fondly................................NOT!..................
I had a red 71 Nova with a black vinyl roof. I loved that car. I had to get rid of it. It was too hard to get a child car seats in and out of the 2 door. I wished I still had that car.
Yeah, I really don’t remember any dents of any kind. I don’t think any of us were in car accidents with that car either, other than a fender bender? Maybe a bumper had to be replaced at one point? Plus, my Dad would’ve had dents fixed if there were any. He was persnickety about stuff like that. The car may have had some engine troubles from time to time, but it was pretty reliable. I will add that maybe other siblings have different memories of dents, though. For me, a car is just a tool to get you from one place to another.
On a related theme to this piece, I have a family member who only buy cars built 2005 and older. The first reason is theft... the cars he has may run fairly well but aren’t worth enough for anyone to steal. The second reason is that 2005 was when the pace of the onboard electronics started to pick up on what data was all being collected on owners/drivers etc. Who needs or wants that....
There's a mechanic in my old stomping grounds in Idaho who won't buy anything newer than 2011 for similar reasons. He says in 2012, manufacturers started going nuts with computer modules taking over basic functions of everything.
When records are purged by incompetent government drones, that doesn't help either.
