Since I’m from Jax originally, I was talking to a guy who knew the band from before they hit it big (they all went to Nathan Bedford Forrest high school which was one of the biggest in town). I asked him if Linda Lou was hot.
He just laughed and said “she wasn’t worth getting shot over”.

I loved the backstory about their gym teacher, Leonard Skennard (or something like that) demanding that they cut their hair.
If ever a band needed a biopic or TV series, it’s Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Band member Gary Rossington based the lyrics... Well, no, immediately above that it is correctly stated that Ronnie Van Zandt and Allen Collins were the writers (lyricists, actually.) Which agrees with the info @ the link.
