I’m a huge Leonid and Friends fan. In the last 25 years I’ve bought tickets to four concerts. All Leonid and friends.

Sacrilege! Nobody can ever improve on Phil Lynott!

James Hetfield did. So did the rest of the band.

I kind of like the Tom Petty version of I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better

Olivia Newton John's version was pretty good, too.

I would agree with that.

best cover ever

I think the Grateful Dead (playing with and without Bob Dylan), as well as Dave Mason have more listenable versions.
  1. Dylan and the Dead live
  2. Grateful Dead (always live)
  3. Still live 4 years later
  4. Dave Mason

My favorite is the John Cale version, from "Shrek".

Big Mama Thornton's Hound Dog was better than any others. Same with almost all originals back in the 50s. The cover was always inferior.

The cover was usually inferior, but not always. I like the Four Chaps' version of Roll Over Beethoven, which is on my original list, much better than the original. Same with Pat Boone's version of Tutti Frutti. Of course, Boone's versions are always superior because he's the King of Rock and Roll (and he's still rocking).

I agree. Though because of licensing issues, it was a version by Rufus Wainwright that appeared on the Shrek soundtrack and not the superior John Cale version that was actually in the movie.

Oh yes. The nine inch nails version was good. But after Johnny Cash covered “Hurt”, he OWNED it.

Ive got a copy of Johnny’s version.

My favorite version of Who's Sorry Now? is by Marion Harris. She includes the verse, which Connie Francis omits, and she sings it in 3/4 time, while Connie sings it in 4/4 time.
