Now that she has been crowned alongside her husband, King Charles III’s wife is officially known as Queen Camilla.
While it sounds more official than “queen consort,” the changing of titles does not signify any practical difference in the role of the 75-year-old royal.
Queen consorts do not formally share the sovereign’s powers, and dropping the “consort” part of the title does not change that. Nonetheless, the change marks a milestone in Camilla’s decadeslong road to rehabilitating her image — from someone once reviled as the other woman in Charles’ first marriage to Princess Diana, to a senior royal member largely accepted by the British public.
The question of what title Camilla would hold when Charles became king has long been a subject of contention, due to sensitivity about her status as Charles’ second wife.
Camilla and her first husband, Andrew Parker-Bowles, divorced in 1995, shortly after Charles gave an explosive television interview admitting his relationship with Camilla. Charles and Diana divorced the following year. In 1997, there was a global outpouring of grief when Diana died in a car crash. Camilla and Charles waited until 2005 to marry in a low-key private civil ceremony.

Kate seems to be doing similar. The positioning on the balcony is really interesting. If Charles dies first I wouldnt be at all surprised if CHarles leaves Camilla a lot of money instead of passing it to the next monarch as Elizabeth did.
That person can file for divorce.
After that point they are free to do as they like. As long as the person they are doing it with is also unmarried.
But screwing one of your subordinate's wives is considered a real "HELL NO" in a civilized military. In the US military you will end up with an Article 134, "disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces,". Screwing your brother officer's wives is a good way to have your military lose all respect for you.
I know the idea of at least trying to keep your soul intact by actually acting with honor rather then doing what ever feels good at the moment is sorely at odds with the current common belief but I still think it matters.
Is this really so very hard?
She loses title when Charles dies.
I admired the Queen very much, but she didn’t always ‘fix’ internal family affairs in the best way - I suspect that she may have regretted what happened with her sister, for instance.
But she ruled in tumultuous times, when values were shifting constantly; and I’m sure it wasn’t easy to always know which way to go or how to stay on top of things. Duty to her charge and commitment was her strongest drive, and changing times made it all very difficult.
Even Monarchs are human.

Wealthy, powerful people have often had ‘arrangements’ where married people stayed together but went their own ways, for the sake of a lot of important values. Even ‘ordinary’ people have done. It’s been true for thousands of years.
For all you know, Camilla and her husband as well as Charles and Diana had come to such arrangements.
The problem arises when one person in the mix decides to make a spectacle of it for public consumption, out of vindictiveness or other selfish motives.
As the article points out, Charles has a problem with anyone who takes his limelight away...and it's obvious that Kate is the star here...and the three kids. I hope none of them turn out like their pathetic uncles. One thing I did notice in the video, and photos at the link, was that "the spare" wasn't on the balcony with the rest of the family. I know he was at the ceremony, and relegated to the third row, but it looks like he was either told not to come to the balcony party afterwards, or chose not to participate, using the excuse that he had to fly out to attend Archie's 4th birthday party. Bet it was a doozy.

Look, there is NO excuse for screwing your subordinate's spouse.
The balance of power is so far off that is tantamount to rape.
The person at the bottom of the power structure can do nothing about it.
Think President and intern, police officer and a suspect, teacher and student, all relationships that are have such a skewed power dynamic that people on hearing about them know instinctively that they are wrong on any number of levels.

No, the problem is SCREWING YOUR BROTHER OFFICER'S WIFE WHEN HE CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.
I am not sure how many ways I can say that.
It is a disgrace to you, your position, your military, your family, heck your species.
You obviously are generalizing from one situation.
Sometimes people possess various values of ‘honor’.
And you don’t know that anyone even desired to do anything about it in this particular case; it may have been all agreed-upon, in which case there’s no harm and no foul, and most concerned just wanted to keep it on the ‘down low’.
Again, this was not the US, and it was not a typical or general situation. It may offend your personal ethics, but unless you know all of the actual details, you’re just spouting your own philosophy and demanding that it prevail in every circumstance.
Someone needs to put up a photo of Camilla Parker Bowles and Don Imus just to compare.
The public really started turning on her when Diana died. Tony Blair helped make her see she needed to change course.
Did she really say Markle is evil as has been disclosed..it’s hard for me to believe she would say that at an event...but she did hold the line with harry and his nonsense.

I never personally heard the late Queen say that Markle was ‘evil’ - I’ve never personally been in her presence.
But the Queen was a long-lived, wise, intelligent and canny woman, and if she did say that privately, she seems to have been on the mark.

The word is that before she died, Queen Elizabeth requested that Camilla should become Queen Consort.
The Queen obviously understood something that the ‘know-it- alls’ here don’t.
Success of a side chick? Kamala became Vice President and is in line to be President of the US if something happens to Joe. That’s pretty successful.
In American politics, ‘successful’ is subject to the many temporal winds of change.
I recall reading many years ago in a biography of the late Queen that a major difference between our two countries is that when things go wrong in Britain, the Prime Minister is voted down, but the people STILL sing ‘God Save The Queen’ (or ‘King’).
There’s something to be said for a national leader/institutional icon that stands outside of politics, and which people can still respect and value no matter what happens in politics.
We haven’t wanted such here - (though you could say that our Constitution and founding personalities represent the same) - but the institution of monarchy seems to work for the Brits.
