Authorities reported that 11 women and seven men were killed.
At least 18 people were killed and 33 injured when a bus fell off a cliff in western Mexico, local authorities said Sunday.
The prosecutor's office in Nayarit, the state where the accident occurred, said the vehicle fell some 15 meters down a ravine on Saturday night, on a highway that connects state capital Tepic and the tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta.
Authorities reported that 11 women and seven men were killed. At least 11 minors have been transferred to hospitals for medical attention.
Photographs released by Nayarit's Security and Civil Protection Ministry showed rescuers pulling out crash victims from the wreckage on Saturday evening.
I’ve seen so many of those “Worst Roads in the World” videos what with buses speeding through narrow passes; I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Was the bus headed here with “asylum seekers,” by any chance?
The Rise and Fall of the “Bus Plunge” Story
A word of caution, it’s Slate and apparently there is a million ads at at least my adblocker says so, but anyways, a interesting look at the bus plunge story .
Well, at least it wasn’t as bad as such accidents usually are in Pakistan where at least 400 folks die whenever a bus there goes off a cliff or gets plowed by a train or hits a donkey loaded with explosives.
Lol! I was tginking the same. The bus drivers in Mexico always have a bunch of plastic saint statues stuck to the dashboard and drive like they believe they are divinely protected.
The bus did it huh?
I don't care if it rains or freezes,
As long as I got my plastic Jesus
Sittin' on the dashboard of my car.
Comes in colors pink and pleasant,
Glows in the dark cause he's iridescent
Take him with you when you travel far.
Get yourself a sweet Madonna
Dressed in rhinestones sittin' on a
Pedestal of abalone shell.
Going ninety I ain't scary
Cause I got the Virgin Mary
Assurin' me that I won't go to Hell.
ROFL! I had forgot all about that crazy song. It ought to be the theme song for Mexican bus drivers! If I were a movie director, I’d put a Mexican bus scene in my next movie just so I could use that song in it.
