Football World Reacts To Mass Exodus Of Colorado Players
The Spun ^ | April 24, 2023 | Daniel Bates

When Deion Sanders walked into Colorado's meeting room for the first time, he told players that the more of them that enter the transfer portal, the more room they'll make for players who are "smart, tough, fast, [and] disciplined with character."

After the Buffaloes' spring game, 13 more players decided to hit the portal on Monday.

The football world reacted to Colorado's mass exodus of players on social media.

"He's gotta have some DAWGS lined up to join him out of the portal! There's no way he just starts talking crazy to kids and making them want to leave," a user replied.

I’ve been saying that for a few years now...couldn’t agree more. Let the major leagues pay for their own minor leagues. Baseball does it, let football and basketball do the same.

i know he told em all..”if you got any problems with girl friends etc, better settle em now, because if anything happens with regards to abuse etc, from here on in, dont even bother calling me or have ya mama call me, aint gonna matter, you are FINISHED here”...guy has never taken a drink or a drug in his life. Seems like he means what he says. This will be a huge test for him.

Yeah, 25-28 players or so have entered the portal.

Sanders won’t take crap.

I wish him good luck rebuilding that team.

The Bear would not allow any of the players to get a simple drink of water. These days the Bear would have been served a lawsuit of criminal negligence. Still though, if you worship The Bear then good for you. I prefer Vince Dooley and Kirby Smart. Go Dawgs. Florida could loose to UGA again this year. Long live Athens, Gainesville is ok I guess.

I’m guessing to a college football fan it was. It was only until I got to the comments that I figured that out!

And I’m also figuring out that a “portal” isn’t the tunnel that leads out onto the field!

“Turn all college sports back into club programs.”

If this means setting up a system so full-time students play on college teams, yeah.

College sports should reflect authentic students on campus.

If a historically black college were to field a basketball team with 90 percent white players that would seem unusual to me but I don't know why.

“ D1 college football is rapidly becoming a question of which booster programs can raise enough to buy the best players. There has always been a class system, but it will now collapse into a game in which no more than ten programs will be competitive. And none of the elite programs will even pretend that the players are students. That battle was lost years ago.

Time.To.Pull.The.Plug.

Turn all college sports back into club programs. The pros can run their own farm teams.”

This is all college athletics now.
Disgusting change in my opinion .
Public funded universities shouldn’t be providing platforms for college kids to make millions playing a game .
It erupt in a huge scandal.

I agree.
Tear it down and have it all be club sports.

But that’s even hard as high school kids now are being paid to transfer high schools.
Kids should be making pizzas and doing other work in high school.

As a player, Neon was abrasive, problematic, and great; as a coach, he has been A++. The big question is how does he coach in a multi-racial program. I think he can.

I’d still be all for maintaining true college athletic programs, but take away all scholarships and make the kids genuine student-athletes. So-called college football today is a joke; even though I am a graduate of a major university with a wealthy athletic program, I am feeling disillusioned about it. The coaches and players are nothing more than mercenaries.

‘Turn all college sports back into club programs.’

except college football was a big time money maker long before anyone dreamed of playing the game on the mercenary level...

Name, Image and Likeness along with the transfer portal killed college football.

Just a matter of time now...

I’ve read some about Deion Sanders recently. And all of it has impressed me.

He helped my 49ers win a Super Bowl in 1994 (actually Jan 1995 in a drizzly Joe Robbie stadium). Sanders will always be OK with me.

Take a look at the Buffs’ 2023 schedule. It’s a combination of brutal bullies and freak athletes. They’re going to need large change in the roster to compete.

The 49ers had a chance to keep him a 2nd year for $5 million-big bucks at the time. The would have had to cut others. Jerry Rice didn’t like him. Team wasn’t big enough for the 2 of them.

The next 2 Novembers had Dallas vs. SF-biggest game of the year anticipated from September(s). Deion shot off his mouth and the niners destroyed them behind Elvis Gerbac. Aikman was taken out with a tackle so the season’s biggest game was played without the queens on the chessboard. Still Dallas won the next 2 superbowls if I remember right.

That year-1994. Atlanta vs. SF. Deion gets into a slap-fight with Andre Rison. Refs couldn’t kick them out of the game. Sanders also pulled off a pic-6 in the only half he played. Then there was the play in the Dallas game where he got away with a hold on Michael Irvin. A couple of years afterward the big anticipated game was vs. Packers. Early November. The NFL doesn’t have those big matchups anymore. 17 game marathon. This year it will be SF/Phi. Dallas at SF might be big perhaps.
