I always thought it was very touching, the way Johnny stuck by her side all those years. When he stepped off the stage, he was a one man woman, dedicated care for her and fulfill her every need. “In sickness & in health..for as long as you both shall live!..”That’s what we are all told marriage is supposed to be about anyway, but it is easy to forget in today’s world, where willfull committment has become something rare. That’s how my parents were.

the two “johnnys” of the 1970s punk - Johnny Rotten and Johnny Ramone were both conservatives, although Rotten (Lydon) seems to have (publicly at least) came to it later in life.
He supported Brexit and Nigel Farage. Said he knew Trump, he would probably be friends with him. Has talked about the importance of kids having a stable family life.
One quote I remember (paraphrase): “It was because of f*****g tw**s like me that people got fed up and voted for Reagan.”
That was a big slap at Elvis. Coming right on the heels of his death, it was a big statement that he was creatively dead long before the heart stopped. He wasn’t the king anymore and the implosion of the Pistols was much more rock and roll.
Don’t bring that jackass Neil Young into this feel-good story.

Most people don't realize that the Sex Pistols were just an act. They were created for the purpose of shocking people, causing controversy and otherwise attracting attention to themselves in order to sell records. While they are credited with pioneering the punk movement, it was other bands like The Ramones and The Damned that got all that started.
Therefore they were a short-lived band. They flamed out pretty quickly and even in America, they had a hard time finding concert venues that would have them, as they were just so over-the-top outrageous.
One member of the band, Sid Vicious (John Ritchie), did get carried away and had a rather ugly end but that's not for this thread.
Public Image LTD, Johnny's later band, put out a lot of good records.
She was 13 years older than Johnny!
There seems to be something about younger men marrying older women that makes their marriage last.
Consider President Macron of France (whose wife is old enough to be his mother ) and Actor Hugh Jackman (whose wife is 13 years older as well ). They’re both, like Johnny Rotten, still married.
Quite a contrast to Sid Vicious who flamed out with Nancy and heroin.
I think the death of Sid, and his guilt over it, went a long way toward changing John’s worldview.
That’s a very English understatement.
