The problem with the A’s has ALWAYS been Oakland.
It’s unsafe for 2 miles in every direction of the ball park.
And the city/county does NOTHING TO CORRECT IT.

I wonder if it will have a swimming pool like the Diamondbacks have in their Arizona Stadium.
Or probably be an indoor airconditioned stadium with slot machines everywhere?
Their players will probably cost less than they do in California as well with the difference in the state tax bite.
The move still leaves four MLB teams in California.

Raiders, Warriors and As have all left Oakland. Raiders multiple times, Warriors to San Fran and now As to Las Vegas.
To: lowbridge
Now, the A’s TAXPAYERS OF LAS VEGAS will be building a gigantic $1.5 billion, 35,000-seat stadium in Sin City for the ball club, according to ESPN. There, fixed it.

Jeeze, what took them so long. There’s absolutely nothing positive about Oakland. Democrat rule has utterly destroyed the place.

Just too crime ridden, so The As are out to Nevada along with Mark Wahlberg and The Raiders.

So keep it on the small side (reduce A/C costs) and make the real money on corporate boxes and the cable TV contract.

They hope to have this new Stadium built by 2027.
The Athletics have a lease through 2024 at the Coliseum.
So at a minimum, two seasons, 2023 and 2024 seasons, will be lame duck seasons in Oakland. Among other things , good luck selling tickets to the games, for a lame duck franchise.

Those poor 51s; now they’re gonna have to move, too.

Well...bye. Live in the Bay Area for 20 years, drove through Oakland twice during the daytime. That was enough for me.

Not at all surprising. My team - The Angels - started their season in Oakland this year and the attendance was pitiful, despite two of the best players in the game playing.
Seems that perhaps the good people of Oakland do not fancy large gatherings in such a crime-ridden city.

A sad day for me - the A's were a big part of my childhood, and I still went by the Coliseum once or twice a summer as the years went by and the worst ownership in pro sports let the A's become a glorified farm team for the rest of the majors.
I'll still follow the Giants (even though I no longer live in CA), but I'll always remember that the Giants refused to let the A's move to San Jose - after Walter Haas ceded the A's rights to the Giants when the Giants were on the verge of moving to Tampa. No good deed goes unpunished.

California has 5 MLB Teams. I’m sure they can spare one.
Oakland Athletics
San Francisco Giants
L.A. Dodgers
L.A. Angels
San Diego Padres

Las Vegas, eh?
I remember when the A's moved to Oakland from Kansas City, I am aware they started in Philly.
So the beat goes on.
