The anguished father spoke at the courthouse where the man accused of killing Kaylin Gillis, Kevin Monahan, was denied bail by a judge. Monahan, 65, appeared in court with a jacket, tie and shackles. He answered questions from the judge, but mostly sat quietly.

Gillis, her boyfriend Blake Walsh and their friends got lost while going to another friend’s nearby house. They were driving two cars and a motorcycle when they turned into Monahan’s long, dirt driveway in the town of Hebron, near the Vermont border.

As they realized the mistake and turned around, Monahan fired with a shotgun...

Something seems wrong with this picture.

How did a shotgun manage to kill someone who just innocently turned into a “long, dirt driveway”?

Seems like the “victim” was much, much closer than we are being lead to believe….

Two cars and a motorcycle. So the guy knew a large group was coming to see him, or at least his property, and they might have been intent on looting. Somehow I wonder if the first clue they had come to the wrong place was seeing the place inhabited by a shotgun-wielding man.

This does not sound exactly like an innocent wrong turn...

The party they were looking for was only half a mile up the road. Supposedly the entrance to the private driveway was wide enough to look like a road. At one time the owner had a gate at the bottom of the driveway. At the beginning it was one car, A ford explorer. Now it’s 2 cars and a motorcycle.

Interesting how the story has been evolving. From one vehicle turning around in a "driveway", then a pack of vehicles right in the guy's yard. A crowd roaring up to the guy's house in the middle in the night is bad enough to no doubt freak him out, worsened in the event they got belligerent towards him in some way. Did it rise to level of justification for deadly force - don't know, probably not. Appear to be the worst fear to someone who is edgy, bad things can happen. And a shotgun alleged to have been used - shot or slug ammunition? That may help determine the range of how close or far the interlopers were when fired upon. So many questions.
