A woman on TikTok had some interesting opinions on potluck etiquette, and TikTok let her know that she had the wrong idea.
Katie K (@Katiekcomedy) made a video regarding a potluck she recently attended, specifically a fellow attendee’s choice to bring a single pizza.
“I didn’t think as a person in my 30s, that I would need to say this to other people in their 30s, but here we are,” she started.
She went on to explain how someone brought one pizza for the entire group to share at a potluck, which she disagreed with.
This magazine editor's closet is packed with chic, eclectic and bold pieces from metallic jackets to shimmery chunky heels “That’s not how a potluck works,” she said multiple times. She felt the need to provide more food on behalf of that person. “I had to order four more pizzas so that everyone at the potluck could eat pizza.”
Although she felt that there was a problem with the person’s potluck strategy, not everyone else did.
“I don’t think you quite understand how potlucks work,” replied @hollyfleming165.
“The whole point in a potluck is everyone brings a little thing and it turns into a bunch of things. You’re wrong,” said @unfiltered_me7.
Nevertheless, she had a response to people arguing with her.
“If you’re the person thinking to yourself, ‘There’s no problem with that,’ then you are the problem and everyone at the potluck doesn’t like you,” @Katiekcomedy said.
She further clarified her point in a separate video, responding to the opposition.
“I don’t think that you should bring something for 30 people,” she said. “I’m saying maybe more than one pizza that one person, maybe two, can eat off of.”
Still, the comment section was not buying her explanation and still sided with the person who brought the single pizza.
“The pizza guy was the only one who understood the assignment lol,” said @charaallandis.
Unfortunately for her, @Katiekcomedy could not sway the minds of her viewers, and her opinion on how to attend a potluck remained unpopular.
Sounds like katiekow was a couple pizza to herself maybe lol
I was going to eat those pies.
If you bring two pizzas then you are encouraging people to overeat.
Was it a single serving pizza (in which case she has a point) or was the guest list teenage boys? (in which case she may also have a point)
Depends on how big the pizza was. Large or extra large fine. If he brought a mini or a small, she is right to call him out.
My mom always said that the LEAST you bring to a pot luck is a little more than two people could eat.
The concept being that, if everyone does this, there is twice as much food as needed.
One is not required to bring enough food for EVERYONE to eat. That would be stupid. Twenty people each bringing enough food for twenty people to eat would be enough to feed 400 people!
Maybe the person who brought onhe bundt cake should have baked 7 or 8 to please katie
Whiny bwitch.
My wife and I attended a Super Bowl party a few years back and took 1 pizza, we didn’t realize he’d invited like 50 people, we were so embarrassed but our host was sooo gracious and it was if our little social faux paux never happened. Some people are cool, some are jerks, even before the internet
Well, shouldn’t the host notify guests what is expected?
“I don’t care what you say, a single dish of lime jello with little marshmallows in it will be fine for 40 people with some left over.”
Hilarious... Like bringing one fruit cake.
It’s MHO that with a few exceptions most social media participants are either narcissists looking for attention or folks with self esteem issues. Not all of course but who really cares how big your toes are ... ??
Get a life ... better yet, get a job.
“Mr.Grant, you took all that was there for the whole group”
“Guess what, I’m not as hungry as I thought after all.”

Just cut the pizza into 50 slices, problem solved.
The encased cigarette butts are a nice touch.
I was always good for a big huge pot of chili.
“Bag of tater chips is always good.”
You’d bring chips...but no dip?
She’d be making a TikTok video about you, for sure.
They impart a mellow smokiness...
And a handle of Fireball, and you're the hero of the party!
