Thanks to a shipping label on the barrel of the main gun of a Russian T-90A tank that wound up at a Louisiana truck stop, we now have an idea where it came from and where it may have been headed before the truck hauling it broke down Tuesday night, leaving it sitting at Peto's Travel Center and Casino.
You can read our original story on the mysterious tank in question here.
The shipping label, photographs of which were shared with us by Louisiana resident John Phelps, shows it was sent from an organization called the “multinational assessment field team” with the port of embarkation listed as Gdynia, Poland. Its port of destination was Beaumont, Texas, about 90 miles west of where the tank wound up. The "ultimate consignee" on the label is Building 358, 6850 Lanyard Rd., Aberdeen Proving Ground. That's the home of the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC).

A lot of stuff ends up in their hands and they do a detailed analysis, which will drive how we develop weapon systems, our tactics, etc.
So what am I supposedly lying about?

RE: What’s my prize?
A dream date with Whoopi Goldberg. Includes a horse drawn carriage ride around Manhattan in the evening with Whoopi sitting on your lap.
And free medical care for when the EMT crew peels you off the seat and takes you to the ER.
Green jello and chicken broth complimentary in the hospital room.
Woo hoo. That stuned my beeber
The article says the tank was shipped from Gdynia, Poland, and presumably was transferred to them by Ukraine soldiers, or else Poland had some in storage and the US Army wanted one to examine up close. Back in the 1960s, I had a girlfriend whose husband worked doing equipment audits for the US Military. At the time he was trying to figure out how 12 US tanks (Abrams?) had disappeared while they were in Europe.
The shipping label on the tank indicated that it was headed to the US Army’s proving ground at Aberdeen.
As a native Houstonian, and frequent traveler through Beaumont, I truly have no idea why it would have come through Beaumont (except to maybe try to keep it quiet?) instead of Houston, New Orleans, NY, Philly, etc.
Attorney Tony Buzbee parked a WWII tank in front of his River Oaks home for awhile, and the HOA was pi$$ed.

I remember reading about that. Buzbee is quite a character and seems to be considering another run for mayor of Houston.
It literally makes no logistical sense, but we may never know the answer.
