When you belong to the 3% of the demographic that is responsible for more than 50% of the violent crime, unfortunately for you, you are going to be watched differently by LEOs. A fact of life.
It is good you let him off on that charge. I would have been inclined to let him off on all counts given the cops reasoning, but I don’t know the rest of the details.
I’m white. The last time I was stopped was about six years ago by a Highway patrol. He kept demanding I explain why I’d sped through a school zone. (There was no traffic, and the school was set so far back from the road I didn’t even know it was there.) He kept saying that wouldn’t do and I needed to answer his question. His voice started angry and got angrier. I asked him to please write me a citation and let me go. He saw my concealed carry license while I was handing over my DL and he went ape$hit. My companion, no stranger to the cops, leaned forward and placed his hands flat on the dash. He demanded my gun, which I handed over and went back to his car. He was there for about thirty minutes. My companion said, “He’s checking out your story (that I wasn’t required to tell him I was armed.) If you’re right, I’ll bet you don’t get a ticket because he does not what this idiocy on some court record.” He came back, handed me my gun in three large pieces and apologized saying I was correct. He cautioned me to drive more carefully and let us go. My companion, who hadn’t noticed the school either said, “Thirty miles an hour over the limit would have been a huge ticket. If he hadn’t acted like such an ass you’d really owe some bucks.”
My point is, this guy was demanding that I argue with him. I kept telling him I would not argue and please write me a ticket. I would not doubt that this guy is the Highway Patrol version of an aggressive drama queen. They’re out there and if you’re not some really calm guy you could be in big trouble. I’ll bet this guy has many more arrests with violence than any of his coworkers.

Yes, it was part of the trucker protests. We have similar situations on both sides of the 49th. The globalists don’t like it when serfs let their opposition to tyranny show.
My last cop stop was rather amusing.
I was taking my dog (a black chow chow) to the vet on very rural back roads.
What I didn’t notice is that they had put in a brand new stop sign at an intersection that was so rural there was no need for one—there was excellent visibility and you could easily see if you needed to stop for oncoming cars—previously there was just a yield sign.
I blew threw the intersection and a lady cop pulled me over.
My chow chow was doing her thing—chow chows don’t bark, they imitate something like a lion’s roar when they are not happy.
The cop had me down the window just a crack and asked:
“Is that dog dangerous?”
I answered “Yes, she is a chow chow and is very territorial.”
The lady cop said “Thanks. We have a new stop sign here. Stop next time.” and let me go.
I just retired from a county where one deputy in particular is a huge liar and would pull over people for nothing. Combination of Peter Struck (sic?) and Tackleberry

The first time my daughter got pulled over, I told her to roll down her window and put her hands on the wheel.
She removed them to punch the cop in the gut.

Same here. And every single encounter I’ve ever had with an Officer of The Law (15-20...) has been the direct result of my conduct.
Been stopped a few times in my big rig by Barney Fife. It is scary once they get their adrenaline going,
98% of the police give the other 2% a bad impression. I just plain feel safer without cops anywhere around me. I’m an old law abiding white guy. I know a few good sheriffs deputies but I would not get between that blue line. They all stick together like the thieves and mafia enforcers they are.
