Probably a touch screen so you order yourself. That and/or an app that connects right to the kiosk so you can use the phone as the touch screen.
Then whoever puts the order in a bag, sets on a conveyor belt which brings it to you at the window, after you’ve paid. Eventually, the cooks and baggers will be replaced by AI run bots. Every fast food joint will have one tech sitting in a room overseeing the machines.
I guess black folks don’t eat as much fake meat burgers as the corporate weasels thought.
Only more robust.
Any one remember when McDonald's hired friendly happy high school kids for their first jobs? And it was a friendly happy place to have a burger?
My daughter works for Micky-Ds, she tells the same story that they are moving towards going entirely drive-thru and soon.
And the ice cream machines still won't work!
“Where’s my $15/hr!!!???”
Every retail giant has a finite life. Fifty years ago, who would have thought that Sears and Montgomery Ward would be defunct. The first nationwide grocery chain was A&P, also entirely gone.
Why don’t these drive throughs put a damn sign back further in the drive through line. You can’t see the menu until you’re up to the speaker and you don’t have time to look at it. WTH? They probably don’t want people seeing the “deals” on the menu. Just pull up and hurry up and order.
”Just like the Whammy Burger!”
McDonald’s was my first job when I was 16 years old!!! I was so proud and excited! It was run like the military- everyone followed the rules and policies, place was spotless- and everyone was grateful to be working there. About a year ago, a friend of mine picked up a Big Mac and fries and it was half the size of the ones I remember. She gave me a bite (first one in about 25 years) and it was disgusting. Didn’t taste anything like the original Big Mac. Blech.
Free advice for McDonalds: How about you just start serving decent burgers for a change?
I hope they do away with the penalty box parking spot
they are moving towards going entirely drive-thru and soon.

Things change and people change over time. What used to be
the norm goes by the wayside and a new norm takes over for a
time. I’ve been in a group that used to go to McD during the
day and sit, talk, drink a coffee for a 4 - 5 hr period daily
Retired and nothing to do, single so go sit around, talk, get
a burger and go home in the mid afternoon.
Most drive thrus are what the were designed for.
Thanks, unrealistic minimum wages!
Uh oh. No personal meetings? Lots of secrecy? I’ll tell you what has happened: the robot burger flippers have rebelled and are taking over management. While we were worried about state ownership of the means of production, the means of production have decided to own the state. I for one welcome my new mechanical overlords...
“Eventually, the cooks and baggers will be replaced by AI run bots”
Whose gonna spit in the food?!
There are no more McDonald’s in Dahntahn Pittsburgh. Always were filled with rowdy urban yutes,, and the covid issue didn’t help.
“… U.S. employees laid off exited the company but will remain on the payroll till June 15 and will receive severance after that time.…”

Well, McDonald’s can be assured that none of the laid off workers will sabotage any files or records or damage any equipment. /sarc
