No country in the world had more of tanks than Russia.
But after a year of all-out war in Ukraine, analysts believe Putin may have lost up to two thirds of his tanks in the largest obliteration of Russian armour since World War Two.
This is the story of how the world’s largest tank army was decimated on the killing fields of Ukraine, and what it means for the future of the war.

The Soviets had a bug up their butt that their tanks had to be shorter than everybody else's to make them a smaller target. The only tank crewman who goes about his business standing erect is the loader, so they reasoned that they could 'compress ' their tanks, make them shorter, by getting rid of the loader and installing an autoloader.
In the US's M1, what ammo remains in the turret is stored in the bustle rack, separated from the crew compartment by a blast shield. The blast shield opens when the loader activates a "momentary" switch and closes when he releases it. Plus it has a halon fire suppression system and the roof of the ammo compartment is designed to blow outward before creating unsurvivable overpressures inside the turret.
More than likely the truth, problem is robot electronics can be defeated, sooner than later, by electronic countermeasures.
Being familiar with military logistics, I find it appalling the cost in money and fuel to ship tons of armor, equipment and shells 6,000 miles plus away only to be flushed down the Ukie toilet.
Warcheerleaders - do realize when the Ukies finally negotiate, or surrender (much like your leader, Biden, Afghanistan’s debacle), demilitarization will be on the table- most likely leaving yet billions more of equipment behind.
I forgot to mention that storing the ammo below and in the turret was necessitated by the addition of the autoloader. They could have installed a system that kept the extra ammo in better isolation from the single round that was being loaded, but being godless communists, they couldn’t be bothered.
Nope. No chance. Especially since they are now being paid in Greenbacks instead of Hryvnia.
It’s easy to be pro-war from thousands of miles away. No sweat at all.
And tanks will be robots
“In the modern technological era of AI, pinpoint targeting and drones of many different sorts, not only are land armored vehicles obsolete but so are naval surface combatants. Nor can helicopters or fixed wing aircraft survive over a modern battlefield.”
The Russians in that trench who were killed by a UKR T72 may have thought differently.
During WWII, the Soviet Union lost on average about 65 tanks per day . Despite such high losses, people didn’t argue that tanks were obsolete
Does this mean I put my wallet back in my pocket?
—————-
No, a well known auditing company came in with 2022’s cost of Biden’s war- each US taxpayer PAID an additional $865 in taxes to fund the Ukie welfare state.
Does this mean I can tell my wife she can stop planning to send our son out of the country to avoid a draft?
———
No, I am planning the same. Having worked for .gov, and a three letter agency, there are many ways to defeat the upcoming draft. PLAN AHEAD.
Some hints:
1) DHS has a list of “ essential industries “ whose employees are not subject to the draft ( if/ when it comes).
2) Consider sending your children abroad for college. Costs are cheap, plan on a four year degree, plan on them not returning for four years.
3) Pick a country that you will enjoy visiting to see them. Panama on top of the list, for many reasons, secondary other Caribbean nations.
4) Medical disqualification….think hard, think early.
That said, comply with the Selective Service laws, do be sure they register, notification of any call up will be on them, very difficult if your child’s whereabouts is unknown.
Get thinking, wouldn’t it be wonderful if/ when absolutely no one shows up for one of senile Joe’s wars?
PS: I served with the best, not just once, but twice. My kids and relatives will NOT serve in this immoral, corrupted administration. Call it what you will.
Which is funny/ironic because NATO is using its totally controlled colonial government in Ukraine, and its cannon-fodder citizenry, to fight a proxy war on its behalf, which will end up completely destroying Ukraine.
Don't talk about the aircraft carriers. Satellites and missile technology have rented them obsolete as well.
Thanks.
Things really changed with the advent of top attack ATGMs. They were designed to attack through the thinner armor on top. With proper guidance electronics and fusing they could attack through the turret top with the jet directed downwards. The jet stays more or less intact as it passes through the turret space, floor and into the propellant. Once the propellant starts to burn (and it will burn quickly) the high explosive rounds will go off and the tank will lose it's turret.
The advantage of the auto-loader remains as long as top attack munitions are not used against the tank. If they are, the advantage becomes a lethal disadvantage. And as the ubiquitousness of the munitions such as the NLAW, Stugna-B, and other relatively cheap missiles increases the vulnerabilities of the tanks with such auto-loaders will remain high.
Did anyone car to see the footage? Lot’s of US made Humvees turned into scrap metal by Vlad’s hammer…can a war cheerleader chime in to see what else they may have noticed?
You should thank the Ukrainians who gave and are giving their lives to keep your children and their future descendants safe from having to fight Russia. The Ukrainians are doing the job that NATO troops would end up doing later if Russia is not defeated.
Is that the one that has to import all of the electronic components it uses? Including the ones made in the USA that Russia has to find on gray markets and smuggle in?
Does it also include the GPS modules, batteries, motors, tank thermal sights, and precision machined parts that are all imported?
I have seen endless footage of Russian vehicles and troops getting destroyed. The actual photographic tallies of destroyed vehicles show that the Russians are much less successful in keeping their vehicles in one piece than the Ukrainians.
But I understand that in Russia you can only watch the videos you are allowed to watch.
From you posts it seems like you served under Russian command. That is not serving with the best, that is serving with the second best in Ukraine.
But, the Russians are getting destroyed!
The Daily Mail and UK propaganda has eclipsed Baghdad Bob.

Current situation at Bakhmut city:
#RussianArmy broke #UkrainianArmy defense line & took control over School Nº 2 & Nº 40 & post office thus reaching Chaikovskoho street. The south supply line of Ukrainian forces to the city of Bakhmut is cut now.
One question: Do you believe Joe Biden is truly, that is in the eyes-of-God, the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. government?
