The main website of Bud Light parent Anheuser-Busch went offline for several hours on Wednesday, days after musician Kid Rock publicly feuded with the brewery for tapping a transgender influencer as a brand spokesperson.
The outage persisted for more than two hours, with the company's main website, Anheuser-Busch.com, displaying a message reading: 'The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred'.
The website seemed to resume functioning shortly before 4.30pm ET. The outage appeared to affect only the Anheuser-Busch site, while websites for the brewery's brands such as Bud Light and Busch Light remained functional.
As well, the website for AB InBev, the Belgian multinational conglomerate that owns St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, was also working normally. AB InBev did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Emails to Anheuser-Busch requesting comment were not immediately returned, and the company's phone message system directed inquiries to the website.
It was not immediately clear whether the site outage was due to routine technical issues, or could possibly be the result of a malicious attack.
However, the outage persisted for well over two hours. One security researcher, speaking anonymously to share speculation, said the outage might have been caused by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, a temporary assault that knocks an internet service offline by flooding it with spam traffic.
DDoS attacks are relatively primitive and easy to carry out, and usually do not cause lasting damage. Most large companies and websites are well-protected against such attacks.
However, there was no immediate evidence that the outage was caused by malicious activity targeting the brewery.
The outage came several days after Bud Light's partnership with trans content creator Dylan Mulvaney drew high-profile backlash.

Anheuser-Busch we hardly knew ye.
Wondering if their “trans” influencer is a chicken or a pig. Because it’s all about commitment...
Bud Light in the loafers
Bud Light in the rear view window too.
I predict the Mother of all apologies, with AB marketing executives getting the heave-ho. Summer is rapidly approaching, with the county fairs and concerts, and after that it’ll be tailgating season for football. AB can’t afford to lose revenues, especially with the dollar already in the toilet.
Maybe it was changing into a dress.
bud light
now with more estrogen
Butt Light
PBR me.
DDos attack?
Fake beer sold by a fake girl.
No Bud for me.
A-B is getting creamed on their facebook page. It’s wonderful to see.
I was thinking about that and also men tell me because I’m not into NASCAR but who is number 4? He has Bud light painted on his car.
about now he not only has to be pissed but looking for a new beer sponsor.
Do we boycott or girlcott them. Who knows any more.
Maybe people using the contact info present on the site.
see my post 14 please
Distributed Denial of Service. Basically you send enough packets/requests at the server from multiple sources - or what appear to be multiple sources - that either nothing else can get through, or that the server is overwhelmed and locks up. One way or the other the server cannot respond to legitimate requests.
Anheuser Busch has spent billions of dollars on advertising over the last century, yet they nuked it all, because some WOKE moron in the DEI department wanted to lecture the proletariat.
