During the gathering near the Huntington Beach Pier on Saturday afternoon, the group of roughly 40 people flew “Make America Great Again” flags and chanted "God bless Trump!" At one point, two demonstrators were hit on their heads with skateboards during a clash.
A few minutes after noon, two demonstrators were hit with skateboards. One of the victims — a man who had been leading the chants — was bleeding from the head but ambulatory. The other refused to give his name to a Times reporter.
Huntington Beach police initially detained two men at the scene. Huntington Beach Police Department spokesperson Jessica Cuchilla said one person was taken into custody.
She said one of the victims was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and that the incident was under investigation.

I’m sure the most skillful of the Antifa skateboarders can get away while holding in, with both hands, what’s left of their bowels protruding from that buckshot exit wound, but it does pose a challenge.
Anyone with a skateboard near a rally should be assumed to be Antifa.

But reading the story, it looks more like an ADW.
I always thought a ‘scuffle’ was a small altercation between two or more people with different opinions. Like a bar fight.
I guess the LA Times, Yahoo and the three (3) reporters look at ADW against a MAGA supporter as a ‘scuffle’
Skateboards in the hands of a teenager is a means of transport.
Skateboards in the hands of an adult should be considered a weapon.
Especially in a large city. Just start off with that presumption.
Get loud, get proud about this issue. Take to the streets, and take no prisoners.
Remember to, never let a good crisis go to waste.

While I don’t promote either political party the Communists were using tactics such as these in the 1920s on German streets—especially “Red Berlin”. Nazism rose and they (nazis and just many civilians) fought them in epic street battles which the Nazis/Dems eventually won.
The tactic is simple, make it too dangerous to organize, march, or even voice your opinion. They are obviously doing it to conservatives now. Have you seen the recent videos where conservatives are being assaulted at trans protests simply for talking or Holding signs?
This video concentrates on actual armed fighting but Street brawls were far more common around the late teens to 20s in Germany.
