It’s my understanding that unless a puffer fish is cleaned and cooked by an expert it is very poison.

I think half the “fun” of eating puffer fish is the “I might die” aspect. It’s adventure sport as cuisine.

We had a family here get sick from eating puffer fish. If not properly cleaned their innards are poisonous..............

I can’t imagine buying prepared puffer fish from someone on the Internet.
It is extremely poisonous and only skilled people can properly clean them.
I would like to try it, but I’d only do it with a Japanese preparer with lots of experience.

Fugu is very light and very delicious. If you eat several pieces you might feel a slight tingling on your lips and tongue due to the very small amount of residual tetrodotoxin in the flesh. Horse and whale sashimi are also very tasty. Fortunately, 7-11 sushi is totally acceptable here.
So she ate the pufferfish and her husband in the ICU? That would kill her, all right.

If this was their first time could be a simple allergic reaction. My dad’s first (and only) time I wound up taking him to the emergency room because he was getting to the point he could hardly breath due to swelling in the neck.
