Dick Van Dyke has smashed his car into a gate in Malibu after his Lexus skidded in the rain. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Malibu and police officers arrived at the scene to find Dick behind the wheel of his Lexus LS 500, reports TMZ.
The Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang star told the cops his car had skidded in the rain and he lost control of the steering before the Lexus smashed into the gate.
The crash came nearly ten years after Dick was involved in another car crash which saw him rescued from his burning Jaguar in Los Angeles.

I’m back in the hills too but we have a lot of backroads to everywhere but only the locals know about them or where they go. :-) I hope the light works for you. Around here, they don’t invest in a light until half a dozen people are killed in a short period of time.
Nice!
In communist USA, Lexus drives you!
LOL!
Well said.
My mother drove till 90. Never had an accident. In the latter years we plotted routes for her with only right-hand turns as far as feasible.
Dick Van Dyke was his stage name, his real birth name was Penis Van Lesbian.
Well, he was married to Mary Tyler Moore and he had cool theme music. So he was a cool guy, at least in his TV life. Sorry for the past tense but hey, he is 97.
Better add Clint. See thread today.
“In communist USA, Lexus drives you!”
Can you explain?
Years ago Yakov Smirnov (Russian comedian) said “In America you can always find a party. In Russia, party always finds you.”
There may be a connection to self-driving cars there too.
Yeah, some local politician was killed there a year or so ago and there had previously been a couple of wrecks that required life flights.
This 4 lane is one of those cross state corridors that Byrd had built a while back. (still not completed) The only way I can avoid crossing it at grade when going to town is if I take a run on the River Rd.....if it’s not underwater. Unpaved and narrow, the local kids race on it all the time either with cars, 4x4s, side by sides and/or dirt bikes. LOL
We gave our father “the talk” when he was 89 years old. No more driving. The car went to my sister.
I’m 78 and recognize that my driving skills are not what they used to be. I no longer drive at night, nor do I drive on freeways or unfamiliar roads.
You are not a fan of reality
I had to take my moms keys when she was 84
Hard thing to do. Sometimes life’s not fair
As long as you don’t take anyone else
He is a self admitted alcoholic
