A Finn by the name of Erki Kulamaki told me it’s warm in Finland because of the Gulf Stream. (!)
Could’ve fooled me!

Having vacationed there (in Helsinki) for ten days....I will say this:
1. There wasn’t any place in Helsinki that I felt unsafe (day or night).
2. Buses and trains run as advertised...are clean, and reasonable for the cost.
3. Winter weather is brisk, and if I were from some Middle-East climate...I’d be gone by the end of first winter.
4. People generally eat at home, and eating out is a slight luxury because of the cost factor.

A culturally and racially homogeneous country with a shared language and ethos goes a long way toward making a happy country.

I was quite surprised to learn that Finnish is not a Nordic language but rather a Uralic one. A language from which Hungarian is based on.
