Once inside, an active hive was discovered that appeared to be covered up with fresh foam. Was that the whipped cream type or the kind you get from just frothing coffee?

“”Africanized Bee””
When do the protests begin - RACIST!!!!!!
To: Red Badger
Devon Johnson of R9 Hive & Honey told the news station the bees were Africanized honey bees, which are oftentimes misclassified as aggressive, though like regular honey bees, they only get aggressive when threatened. She also said the bees have a three-day memory span, so if they get triggered by a lawn mower, they could get aggressive toward something else later. So, in other words, they are aggressive.

***The Africanized honey bee is also known as the killer bee, which is a cross-breed between the European honey bee and the African honey bee. ****
I remember, fifty years ago, a scientist saying that when the Africanized bees cross-breed with the European honey bee in their spread across the US, that the docile strains would be dominant.
It looks like the scientist was wrong. It appears the African honey bee attitude still rules the roost!

Devon Johnson of R9 Hive & Honey … said the bees have a three-day memory span, so if they get triggered by a lawn mower, they could get aggressive toward something else later. That's very interesting. I've never heard of that, and I am interested in beekeeping.
I recently watched a video where a beekeeper had to euthanize an aggressive colony. The bees were well-nigh unmanageable.

Red Badger :" The Africanized honey bee is also known as the killer bee, which is a cross-breed between the European honey bee and the African honey bee. "
The cross-breeding was accidental, when a queen bee escaped from an apiary in South America.
All bees release a pheromone when the stinger, stuck in the victim, is released and becomes airborne.
The killer bee's pheromone is stronger than domestic bees when torn from the abdomen, but the reaction to the venom is similar to domestic bees.
What differentiates killer bees from domestic bees is the ferocity and number of stings which create a severe reaction to the number of venom stings
which overwhelm the victims immune system.
