“”My advice? Get over it and enjoy your new digs.””
Yep, unhappiness with a planned move is mostly a personality thing, an internally created problem, not a problem of the new place.
Dear Lonely in Florida: you can always get a job with Disney.
If these two old women met every day and visited museums or volunteered to read to kids that would be one thing. But you just know they sat around and complained every day. And now this woman is closer to her family and florida is better for her health but she just sits around and complains about missing her friend. This woman will be miserable until the day she dies.
Some people like being miserable, it’s a way of life for them.
“Miserable being must find more miserable being. Then is happy.”
Yes I know people like that!
No word about how her husband would feel about leaving FL—or any sign that she has made an effort to make new friends.
It’s a free country. You can move whenever you want. Just think of your move to Florida as a practice training run for your move from Florida to your beloved New Yawk craphole. Don’t be such an idiot. It’s not rocket science, SPACE CADET!
My bet: She nagged husband until he spent half his retirement on a place in Florida, new paint job, packed up, moved, unpacked, and 6 months of honey-dos to make her happy. Now she wants to go back to how it was before, which is what the husband told her was going to happen in the first place.
Would she be happier if DeSantis supported the MUTILATION of children, as the Democrats she used to vote for do?
Dec-Feb. short term rentals furnished. Where to look and stay? Maybe even 30-60 days.
“Can you give me any advice?”
A. Kill yourself in Florida;
Or
B. Move back to Filth York and kill yourself there.
Please help. Several years ago I developed the sneaking suspicion that “dear abby” type columns were fake, and the letters written by troubled people were actually written by the dear abby. I have not been able to shake that suspicion off. It seems more and more likely every time I read one of those “dear abby” columns.
Please help me rid myself of this suspicion.
Signed - Suspicious in a blue state.
Good advice there (!), to remain in Florida during the summer season, with the heat and humidity, and experience it for yourself with, and also without air conditioning.
While the article says New York, it doesn't specify New York City as 'Miserable's home location.
Once you get 40 minutes out of NYC, the political climate changes to more Conservative political leanings
with just a few urban areas of liberalism (ie.: Buffalo, Syracuse, Ithaca, Albany).
Too may people equate anything 'New York' to NYC and it just isn't true.
Other than in urban NYC, there is clean air, no noise pollution that starts at 4 AM through 1 AM, and we have orchards, vineyards, farming and industry.
If you're a LIBERAL.. then GOOD!
I thought the original “Dear Abby” was dead?
Old time Florida residents used to say that New Yorkers were like hemorrhoids. The ones that came down and went back up were ok but the ones that stayed down were a pain in the ass.
We moved to be nearer to family. I miss my best friend terribly but I deal with it by calling her a couple times a week.
The lady needs to force herself out and get involved in her new home.
It probably will not be easy but nothing that is worthwhile is easy.
And if she does not learn how she is got to break up her family and that would be a tragedy.
Years ago.
