The Future of Education - One AI Tutor Per Child: Personalized learning is finally here

My wife and I run a micro-school in Mumbai, India. We recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. Our kids go there along with 15 others. As we like to joke, we are doing small-batch, locally sourced, artisanal education. I also run a tech startup where we are building a product in the learning space. Both of these were born as a result of the pandemic when schools shut down and we saw up close what happens in the name of education.

I can't recall the number of times I've posted something about the future of education being nothing more than giving every newborn a laptop loaded with the entirety of their K-12 education in the form of games of gradient skill acquisition and freeing all brick and mortar "schools" to be repurposed into low income housing and homeless shelters.

Education should be fun. Kid's should, as early as possible, be taught that they have a brain and it requires a certain care and feeding. Once you get them to set their heads on fire, you can turn them loose to educate themselves at their own pace as their ignited curiosity dictates. AI will facilitate this immensely.

Actually, I think that AI will drive this agenda and become a matter of survival. Never mind global warming, we either get smarter faster or AI will take over the whole enchilada.

Kids need social interactionź that is a vital part of growing up and learning social skills needed to get them through life reasonably well.

Also, if it ever does get to ai teaching g kids, you can bet that Christian created ai will likely be banned or not allowed, or severely restricted

One AI tutor per child?

The beauty of AI is that you can just copy and paste the code and you have as many AI tutors as you want or need.

I guess each classroom will be a computer lab and the AI will do all the teaching. But the classroom will have to be manned by a security guard. Our youths are quite feral. Just go to a classroom at any public school today.

AI is Godless.

Which means Satan is setting the curricula.

“Personalized Learning,” will never be widespread. It may be allowed for fringe, or elitist, elements. Otherwise, it does not serve the interest of the state. Certainly not in socialist India.

America was the last, best hope of such experiments in freedom, but sadly, we are giving up on it as well.

You've just described prison.

AI, in the near future, is going to give a lot of people options on their childs education at a fraction of the cost of a private school.

I can imagine some schools being open purely for tutoring and social interaction (open 12-3) ie. band, team sports and chess club type of activities, but the bulk of the work done at home on the computer.

It will be interesting to see how some kids thrive and complete levels well ahead of time as the bell curve on the other end shows the delay for some.

My ex-wife (teaching 40 years) biggest complaint was she had 1-2 students that were great, 10 that were good, 10 that were okay, and 1 or 2 either very slow or very disruptive, and she had to teach her school year the same for each of them.

“Education should be fun.”

Yeah, hard work, mind-wracking stress, toil, difficulties, tough challenges, and strenuous effort should always be “fun.” I suppose you can train your brain to believe that you are having “fun” while doing those things.

Not many people get off on really hard work. And educating yourself is hard work, make no mistake.

You need to train people to take pride in accomplishing difficult things and achieving their goals.

If you think education will be “fun” like playing video games, you are really delusional.

Do you know how many times throughout history that has been proven wrong? I went through all that crap in the educational circles. Always failed, but it was just because we hadn’t done it right.

Kids don’t educate themselves. But it tickles the ears.

Descipling is the age old system. Any one worth their salt has one two or three people in their past that changed their lives.

That assumes you got a good mentor, not a bad mentor.

And it’s a good thing people writing the software for AI can’t put any political bias, like condemning the US Republic, into it ... oh wait ...

AI will go woke. It is programmed by the woke. There is no such thing as “fair and balanced” AI because of the corrupt learning process. So-called “AI” will simply become global/leftist propaganda on over-dosed steroids.

This statement seems true to me.

But government schools have got to be the worst possible place for any child to learn social skills. I've seen the films. I've heard the stories. Kids are better at home than in any government school. Of course, an in-between solution which allows civilized social interaction would be a fine thing. But government schools need to die.

How will the AI deal with kids who are lazy or just don’t want to learn? That’s why remote learning was such a failure. Kids need an adult in the room to assign consequences for not doing the work.

AI will go woke.

AI is already woke, judging from ChatGPI's statement on FR. You think human public school teachers are bad? Wait until the same bot who described FR as a site fomenting violent revolution is teaching your kids US history. At least human leftists are theoretically capable of feeling guilt.

Such a learning plan for children sounds remote, disengaged, stationary and kind of lonely.
Let’s not forget Maslows pyramid of individual needs to produce a person who is actualized and fulfilled.
