No shooting last night, just treeing and shining for points. BUT - Coon Season is back in full swing again, and it never stops if you’re on your own land or have permission to hunt another’s.

The BIG excitement was that they had a new kid show up who is just 16 and has only hunted a few times so far. Beau took him with his cast, as they were all seasoned hunters. The kid had a good time and will be back, he said.

Sadly, it’s a dying sport, so they are always thrilled to get the youngsters involved. Beau is the ‘youngster’ in his hunting group...and he’s 63! ;)

Doesn't help that hides went from over $10 to $2-3 each. It used to be something my neighbor would do to bring in some money for Christmas and another chunk of money to spend in the Spring.

I’ve been meaning to ask: With all of Beau’s hunting and fishing contacts, does he know a good place to fish for salmon that doesn’t require either boat or fishing guide?

Every time I do a search on the subject, all I see are guided fishing tours. I just want some salmon for the freezer.
