Look at the bright side. If Spanish conquistadors never showed up the prisoners would be having their hearts cut out while they were alive to summon the rain god.

If gangs are really as powerful as they say, and El Salvador President is really arresting gangland members in such great numbers - then wouldn’t he have a civil war on his hands?

So these are the people who sold drugs their communities. Fought and killed anyone who interfered or tried to interfere with their illegal and deadly business. They terrorized the entire country and up to the entire world. Am I sorry on how they are being treated? Actually, I’s surprised they did not have to dig their own graves before they are tried and convicted. But it is only the socialist that do that. Nazis, communist, socialist as in Cuba, Venezuela, etc.

Sounds perfectly good to me. When do we start building some of those facilities here. BLM “peaceful protestors” should be first.

That’s rough treatment but I guess their society is making a decision. Can’t imagine what life would be like in those cages with only two toilets per 100 men. Kind of impressed with the government’s will on this. At the same time, in those G forsaken countries who knows which side is worse?

It seems easy to find criminals in El Salvador - if the person has tattoos, then they must be criminals, so throw them in that jail.

What to do with all these guys? Sell them to Ukraine or the Wagner Group. Send them to the war zone with promises of clemency if they survive. Kill any survivors.

If these gangsters had gotten into the USA to do their crimes, they’d be home free. Blue states shielded them from deportation during Trump, and now Joe Biden shields them nation-wide.

Heck, the Biden State Dept is probably going to visit them in the El Salvador prison, and will demand that any deported under Trump be released for return to the USA.

Frankly....tough chit.

Ever since they grabbed the gangsters and locked them up, El Salvador’s crime and murder rates - among the worst in the world - took a dramatic nosedive.

This all started when Salvadorean illegals who had absorbed LA’s gang culture were deported back to El Salvador in the 90s. Crime and violence immediately exploded there. After about 30 years of it, the people have had enough. Even though the human rights organizations will complain, they don’t care. I can’t say I blame them.

Although I don’t, it is easier for us to criticize El Salvador for treating its prisoners so badly. We are not (yet) suffering as much as they are from gang violence, but if we were, I suspect that we would not be even so gentle in our approach.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022%E2%80%9323_Salvadoran_gang_crackdown

In 2021, the homicide rate reached the lowest it has been since the Salvadoran Civil War ended in 1992, with 18 homicides per 100,000 people.[10] Although the decline in homicides began in 2016, Bukele attributed it to his policies,[8] and it has been one of his most-touted accomplishments.[11] Bukele enjoys an extremely high approval rating of approximately 85 percent,[11] one of the highest in the world.[12] In December 2021, the United States government accused Bukele of negotiating a secret agreement with the gangs, reducing violence in return for financial and prison benefits. Additionally, the United States Department of the Treasury sanctioned two Salvadoran officials it claimed conducted the talks. Bukele called the accusations of making a deal a “lie”[8] and denounced previous administrations who made similar deals.[11]

Government crackdown

During an extraordinary session early on 27 March, the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly approved a “state of exception”.[18] The order, which was initially set to last thirty days but has been extended twice,[19] suspended the rights of association and legal counsel, increased the amount of time that persons may be detained without being charged from three days to fifteen, and permitted the government to monitor citizens’ communications without warrants.[18] However, Salvadoran law enforcement was accused of violating even the expanded limits of their powers.[11][17] The government also restricted the ability of judges to offer prisoners alternatives to pre-trial detention, like bail and house arrest.[20]

Members of Nuevas Ideas passed new rules that increase prison sentences for convicted gang lords to forty to forty-five years (previously six to nine) and twenty to thirty years for other members (previously three to five)[10] and reduce the age of criminal responsibility, previously sixteen years old,[20] to twelve.[19] They also passed a law that threatens anyone who reproduces or disseminates messages from gangs, including news media, with ten to fifteen years in prison.[21]

The government deployed additional police and military forces,[22] raiding houses and creating checkpoints surrounding neighborhoods with known gang presences.[8] Soldiers checked everyone for identification cards and proof of address,[17] searched their vehicles and backpacks,[11] and refused to let anyone enter or leave without what they considered a legitimate reason.[17] Anyone considered suspicious was forced to strip so soldiers could check for gang-related tattoos.[17]

By the end of 27 March, Salvadoran security forces claimed to have detained 576 people;[16] within a week, almost 6,000 people had been arrested, straining El Salvador’s already-overcrowded prisons.[17] Nevertheless, the government pressured the police, military, and judicial system to continue the mass arrests by setting arrest quotas.[20] After one month, more than 17,000 people had been arrested;[21] on 25 May, the National Civil Police announced that more than 34,500 people had been arrested since the start of the state of emergency.[20] Many people were unable to learn where or why relatives were detained.[16] Rations for prisoners were reduced to two meals each day[15] consisting of only beans and tortillas;[8] Bukele explained that he would “not take budget away from schools to feed these terrorists”.[18] Prisoners have also been denied mattresses and frog marched,[19] and Bukele ordered that all gang members be confined to their cells 24/7.[18]

In July 2022, Bukele announced the construction of a new prison which will be able to house 40,000 prisoners, making it one of the largest prisons in the world.[23] The prison, known as the Terrorism Confinement Center and located in Tecoluca, opened on 31 January 2023.[24]

On 3 November 2022, Osiris Luna Meza, the minister of justice, announced that the government would begin destroying gravestones belonging to members of gangs to prevent them from becoming “shrines”, stating “terrorists will no longer be able to ‘glorify’ the memory of dead criminals”. Despite the destruction of the gravestones, the government stated that the bodies would remain intact and not be disturbed.[25] Bukele compared the removal of the tombstones of gang members to denazification in Allied-occupied Germany and also compared the gangs to the Nazis themselves.[26]

The government initiated a siege of the city of Soyapango on 3 December 2022 when 10,000 soldiers were sent to surround the city and arrest gang members.[27] The government erased gang graffiti from the city during the siege.[28]

and that is how it is done folks........................

https://www.vox.com/2020/12/16/22178099/trump-asylum-seeker-el-salvador-agreement

The Trump administration announced on Tuesday that it’s ready to implement a controversial international agreement to return asylum seekers arriving on the US-Mexico border back to El Salvador.

The Asylum Cooperative Agreement, signed in September 2019 with the approval of Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, is one of three such pacts that the US has made in an effort to discourage regional migration. The other agreements are with Honduras and Guatemala, although only the agreement with Guatemala has gone into effect so far, leading to the deportations of nearly 1,000 Hondurans and Salvadorans.

Another solid hit over the wall for Trump.
