A bill backed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that would restructure higher education and eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs from college curriculum advanced in the state House.

Sponsored by state Rep. Alex Andrade, the bill, known as HB 999, was approved along a 12-5 party line vote by the House Postsecondary Education and Workforce Subcommittee Monday.

It now advances for discussion before the state Senate later this week.

Yet many FR insist he is a deep stater, secretly doing conservative things to fool us. Once in power he will openly marry George Soros and send us all to concentration camps. 🤣

What a great move! DEI is completely useless and as racist as Black History Month.

I just got another degree in business/accounting and it was full of that nonsense. You could tell it was just shoehorned in because they had to. It was so stupid.

Here on Free Republic, many seem more critical of various Republicans ,,than they do of liberal Democrats who oppose everything that we stand for as conservatives.

DEI isn't useless to the Marxists preparing to overthrow our country. And Black History Month and BLM are valuable to them for the same reasons.

Equality isn't about racism and Woke isn't about diversity.

As has been said, "The issue isn't the issue. The issue is Revolution!"

DeSantis is going as far as a Governor can. No other would have the stones to do this. MSM will shred him for it. Every Republican Governor should do the same but none of them will. Trump needs to stand down and give him credit for what he’s doing.

I can imagine.

One of my daughters got her degree back in 2006 or so and it was getting bad back then.

I recall after the Enron fiasco there was a great single panel cartoon, a lady/secretary stuck her head in the corner office door and told the guy behind the desk “I just got a call from accounting, 2+2=4 again.”

Business needs to be in business not in social engineering or national politics.

My son said none of the woke bull crap was in his math or computer science courses, but was all over his misnamed "core" courses. That's exactly how I remember it when I got my BS in CS, but it was probably worse for my son than for me. And probably even worse now.

When I was in college just about every course had some woketard discussion, but my math and computer science instructors never brought them up. Every semester in my freshman and sophomore year at least one student would bring up his woketard BS in the middle of class, presumably to show off his liberal bona fides. My math and CS instructors told them that the class room wasn't the place for that because we had real stuff to learn. My favorite CS instructor, though, always handled it differently. He'd respond with "What does the math say about it?" The libtards never had a reply to that. And my instructor would say, "Look around you. This room is full of computer science majors. We're all about the math. How can you expect us to support your position without there being a math basis for why you passionately believe what you believe?"

I think about that every time the Dims try to stir up a cause.

All you have to do is who are his mega-donors. If you don’t think they will control his agenda, you are a political neophyte.

Yep. DEEP STATE. DEEP STATE!

I remember Bush II doing a bunch of conservative stuff to fool everyone into thinking he was conservative. Oh wait. No he didn’t.

Now I’ll read the “don’t trust Desantis” posts.

Can a Floridian tell us what, exactly, this bill prohibits?

As with “Critical Race Theory”, if you ban things named “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” and declare victory, things will go on as before with a new name.

DeSantis’ actions are great as are Trump’s policies. Why are you such a divider?

One of the best ways to eliminate this is indirectly. Remove the need for an Ed degree to teach at the K12 level. Once there is no demand for an Ed degree the need for Colleges of Ed in universities can be eliminated.
