If you're referring to Mary, the mother of Jesus: Scripture says nothing about her age, nothing about the age of her betrothed husband Joseph, she didn't go to live with him as his wife until after the Annunciation and after the angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him to fear not and take her home as his wife.
Well I’ve got five barely 16-34
Two girls
Three lads
Two boys still under my roof and I’m 65 and rib is 57
Not eager to raise one again but we would or at least start the process
I’m lucky my older girls are moms with capable husbands already so they could help too

My boys are not super girl crazy like I am

My boys don’t like this they prefer girls with more discretion but they are rare even at church
And this includes our southern Baptist girls we know they just make you actually date them
Id guess chaste pretty girls are maybe 3-5% 17-25
Whereas early 70s my era was maybe a third we’re chaste until serious relationship or engagement
And the lurid quotient is inestimable
There is no shame

And they cheer it and send in a witness girl to verify in the bedroom

Im in a 70% trump county the richest in America by some measurements
These are girls headed to tony sororities at SEC schools

I knew 100s of girls growing up and can still name the four I remember who were that promiscuous
It’s pitiful to be honest and I do so love gals but damn they are just throwing it away

Paradoxically it’s a hard time for boys in this environment
Anyhow this is just tangential to teen pregnancy
We had girls sending my boys nudie shots at 13
When my wife confronted them where they learned this
They always say well mom does it

I agree that it may be a civilizational mistake for women to defer having kids in favor of career and material benefits. What worked throughout history, was for a girl to marry young, to an older man who was able to support her.
Most Biblical scholars put the Virgin Mary’s age at about 12-16 when she was betrothed to Joseph.
In a culture where virginity at marriage was expected, girls married just after puberty.
I have a family member that was in this exact space, but the girl was 16! They got married, had more kids and they are STILL happily married 45 YEARS later!

Looking back on it I never should have married at 20. I was not a great dad at early 20s while my wife only 18 fit into motherhood like a duck first going into water.
I should have married at 30 (even 35) to an 18 year old….I would have appreciated my children like I do my grandchildren now. And I probably would have cherished my wife more as well in her role.

While Mary’s exact age when she bore Jesus is not specified, it is reasonable to assume that she was betrothed to Joseph at an age where it was normal and customary for young Jewish girls to marry.

Do you have any reference, or any line of reasoning, to indicate that Mary was significantly older than 16 when she bore Jesus?
If not, why did you react so strongly and negatively at the suggestion that she was in her early teens?
