SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Parts of California have seen record-setting snow this year. The statewide Sierra snowpack is 192% of the average right now, the Northern Sierra is at 154%, the Central Sierra is 197%, and the Southern Sierra is at 230% of the average for this date.

The following ski resorts already have more than 600 inches of snow this season.

China Peak: 606 inches

Boreal: 610 inches

Sugar Bowl: 605 inches

Dodge Ridge: 612 inches

The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab is reporting that "this is the ninth snowiest year since the Snow Lab was built in 1946 and the third snowiest year since 1991 (1995 and 2011 were bigger)."

According to the lab, their snowiest winter had over 67 feet of snow back in the winter of 1951-1952.

There is a Winter Storm Warning up for the Sierra through Wednesday morning as they're expecting an additional 10 to 30 inches of snow.

Later this week, they will get a rain/snow mix.

A Winter Storm Watch has already been issued for Thursday morning through Sunday morning as heavy snow is possible. One to five feet is expected with the heaviest above 7,000 feet.

If only there was someway to control the climate..... California would not be facing this massive snowfall. STOP GLOBAL SNOWFALL! We only have 9 years before the whole earth is covered in snow!

And yet there is still a “drought”.

One of our DNA adult families have friends in the Tahoe area, and those friends were advised to have 2 weeks of food on hand before this week’s coming storm hits.

Also, good winter sleeping bags and extra propane tanks to heat their camper stoves to boil water and pan fry/grill food.

Living in the mountains(or anywhere) it’s always good to have two to three weeks of stores at hand

Sometimes it snows and sometimes it snows a lot. Stop complaining...build basins and capture the runoff.

“Living in the mountains(or anywhere) it’s always good to have two to three weeks of stores at hand!”

Often when earthquakes hit or the big fires a few years back, we can lose electrical power for days. No power = no stores open! = No food being sold!

It sounds like both the weather and climate change and we have a very poor understanding of both, so it’s better not to incur trillions in known costs for a climate mitigation goal of dubious probability.

Since trillions have already been spent, can they reveal the present percentage of co2 in the atmosphere NOW and what it was in 1900, 1950, 2000 2010 and how were these numbers arrived at....i.e., calculated or actual (which is impossible).

relatives in Montana report highest snow in over 40 years. But global warming can cause global cooling . . .

I know! Instead of naming all these different storms, let’s band them all together and call it WINTER! LOL!

I always have to resist the urge to harp on weather as climate (as opposed to the reality of “Climate is what you expect, Weather is what you get”) but then, I think...they look at every time the thermometer goes above 85 degrees that it is proof of “Global Warming”, so I feel the need to throw that back at them as fair play.

Of course, those jackasses have determined that everything, everywhere, all the time, is due to “Global Warming”, even increased sea ice, growing glaciers, blizzards, and extreme cold.

That, and 85 degree days.

What do you think happens in late spring and early summer?

Hardly. Here is the current situation:

We saw a more dramatic improvement from Dec 2018 (right) to March 2019 (left)...

Here's a handy graphic. Data are through February 28, 2023...

This is how California operates. It's all perfectly normal. What is abnormal is water management and storage in CA.
