The cartels thought they were drug buyers.
They kidnapped two to hold for ransom.
They killed two to show they were not joking around.
Back in college, I made a several trips down to Zihuatanejo and Puerto Escondido, sometimes by bus and sometimes making the drive. One late night, not too far out of Acapulco, the Federales pulled over our bus, ordered all the men off the bus and searched our bags. As they searched my bag, I handed the Federale twenty bucks.
They found something they did not like in a bag belonging to a Mexican citizen and right in front of us, beat him with nightsticks until he was not moving.
As we watched, at least one buddy of mine peed his pants, we all got back on the bus to Zihuatanejo.
Mom told the woman not to go due to the danger. Mom was right.
Border towns are dangerous. I quit going to Tijuana/Rosarita Beach over a decade ago because it was too risky. I did recently return from Cabo. Sitting on the sunny beach watching Humpback Whales play in the Sea of Cortez while I sipped a cold beverage was a nice break from the cold and rain.
Seriously anyone actually believes 3 guys went to Mexico with a woman so she could have a tummy tuck? I could possibly see 3 women accompanying another woman for plastic surgery, but I’m not buying what they are selling. I’ve got a great deal on land 80 miles west of Tampa for you if you swallow this tale.

It’s akin to four white people going to the black neighborhoods of Chicago and taking an afternoon walk about.
Things you don’t want to do... Mexico is a despot, corrupt and lawless country. The trips are cheap for a reason, the healthcare is cheap for a reason, the danger is clear and present. Do not go there.

If I recall correctly, several years ago a guy drove to Mexico for some cheap dental work and was never heard from again.
I’ve been to Mexico once. Never again.
Within 10 years the southwest US will be just like Mexico.
Will Al Sharpton be travelling to Mexico to demand that the people who attacked these four young African Americans be brought to justice? I’m guessing no.
Those border cities are dangerous. After this I’d expect people will think twice before heading down there for medical procedures.
I always think how horrible to die in or have loved ones die in a foreign land. R.I.P.
