Jones and the Giants on Tuesday grinded out an agreement on a four-year deal worth $160 million, with Jones able to earn an additional $35 million in incentives.
Jones is guaranteed $82 million over the first two years of the contract and a total of $94 million is practically guaranteed.
His salary cap hit in 2023 should come in around $18.5 million — a much more manageable number than the $32.4 million the franchise tag would have cost the Giants.

It’s too bad Daboll seems like a good coach. Maybe he can have success when he gets his second his second head coaching job.
He three 15 TDs last year. He’s getting more than a million dollars per TD pass from last year. The franchise can rebuild in a few years. Does this mean they can’t keep Barkeley?
I’m glad I don’t have to pay ticket prices to these greed mongers
Obscene.
And yet they wonder why so many folks have lost interest.
That’s the current going rate for an average NFL QB.
Thought he was holding out for four years guaranteed.
Actually, their are only eight that are $40 million/year average. He's not nearly as good as Prescott or Stafford who are at $40 million/year. Mayfield, Winston, or Bridgewater are better than he is.
“Then why does Daniel Jones deserve that much?”
He deserves that much because the Giants believe that at least one other NFL team is willing to pay him at least that much.
Daniel gets lots of money...
The owner needs lots of fans to pick up the tab.
Could be tricky
Which team?
Think I’ll have some freshly grinded coffee and contemplate this news..
With Derick Carr signing for $3.5 million, the Saints are out but the Jets and Colts and still looking for their QB.
The Jets could go with Rogers, but he is expensive and old.
The Colts only other option would be to trade up in the draft, but the Bears will want a high price for the number one pick.
It also looks like Carolina and Tampa are in the market.
So yes, it is unlikely that the Giants are being charitable and paying far above market rates.
$3.5 million? Are you sure. I think it's a lot more than that would actually be a fair price for him.
I guess Jimmy Garoppolo and other don’t exist?
That should be $37.5 for Carr and the very QB heavy Saints.
Garoppolo will sign, maybe with the Texans and be paid in the same range.
He would be a fool to sign with Houston, but $38 million per year will ease that foolishness.
Personally, I think the 49ers should have made Ryans their head coach this year.
“DeMeco Ryans was a fool to sign with Houston.”
I can’t figure that one out.
The only reason would be is that if he can turn the Texans into a winner, he will be able to land any job in the NFL and name his price.
