I saw a big bank in Nashville fail in 1980. The bank closed its doors for a few days, opened on Monday, a desk set up near the front door. Depositors lined up to collect their savings.
'No problem,' said the bank examiner. 'Now let's see... You had four thousand dollars in a savings account; good. And I see you have an outstanding loan for forty thousand dollars. You owe us thirty six thousand dollars. Sorry, no recovery for you.'

SVB has an attractive franchise and customer base. Their liquidity management sucked, however.
I bet, as we sit here, several banks have flown in to California their M&A SWAT teams. The FDIC has prolly assembled DealBooks for their review, and may offer a first-loss backstop to sweeten the deal. Further, these banks’ Boards are on standby, ready to approve Term Sheets.
By next week, I bet SVB will have a new owner, their c-suite will be unemployed, depositors and most other creditors will be made whole, and we will return our focus to Bidet being an idiot.

I’m curious to know if anyone here has ever seen any paper US currency printed after 2017? It is now 2023. I’m not including coin. (The Metal still gets crappier each year) only paper currency.

Well, not to be too cynical here (cough), but $40M is allocated. By the time all the government employees “managing” the program and their friends in the local agencies who are on the ground to perform the “help” get their cuts, the actual amount that goes to “help” is probably more like $1.97 per fentanyl user (rounded up to the nearest cent.)
Easy-peazy...Pres. Biden bailed out the Cental States Teamsters with our money...
