I’m with you on this. Talk is cheap Florida ain’t the WH. Power goes up exponentially. I think we should tread softly. IMO

Who did DeSantis hang out with when he was in Congress?

It is simply too early to tell and right now the media and everyone really are looking more for gotchas instead of meaningful signs of support or endorsement. Plus, many of the people getting mentioned right now are doing this to simply get into the news, be relevant, even if for only a minute or two. Some might be doing so with ill intent.

I find it interesting that every time a ‘shady character’ (whether really ‘shady’ or not) got near Trump, everyone, particularly the Media, DEMANDED that Trump denounce the person.

...but not a whisper from the media regarding DeSantis, even with people like Rove, Jeb, and Soros (I think) supporting him.

Besides, do we really care about who any Bush, Rove, Soros, Ryan, Romney, and others like? Might as well ask Putin, Xi, Trudeau, Waters, Pelosi, Schumer. Hey, who does Lightfoot like? Maybe Oprah could share her thoughts.

A couple weeks ago, I read that Karl Rove was an unpaid advisor to the DeSantis campaign.

When you are running against a popular ex-President in your first primary campaign, trying to make new GOP friends is not necessarily a mistake.

If Rove and Lindsey Graham are still hanging around DeSantis after three or four primaries, then I will start to worry.

He seems to have the support of many MAGA Floridians. They’re pleased with his tenure.

Answer:

Mrs. DeSantis.

I need to know more about her. She clearly has significant say in what happens regarding the Gov.

Here’s how I look at it:

DeSantis losing badly in Gov race, more than 20 points down and time running out.

DeSantis very much needs Trump’s endorsement and asks him for it.

Trump gives DeSantis the endorsement he so much needed and DeSantis runs very pro-Trump ads (very cute ones, with MAGA hat, helping his son “build that wall”, baby in MAGA onesie) and rides to victory BECAUSE OF TRUMP.

DeSantis does a great job as Gov, tackling all of the red meat issues to cement him with MAGA base.

Establishment RINOS need a candidate to back, because it simply cannot be that badass Trump, as their swamp activities must be protected. Who better than DeSantis?

DeSantis gets courted by the Establishment and his drive and political ambition seem to be getting the better of him. The fact that he would turn around and primary the very person who got him where he is, to me, shows his true colors and displays a disgusting lack of character and honor.

DeSantis could easily wait until 2028. He’s a young man and should complete his Gov time. This would also show some respect and loyalty to the man who got him where he is. This would also not throw chaos into the MAGA base.

DeSantis, if he was the nominee would lose. Many, many people in the MAGA base would be disgusted enough with his selfish political ambition and for backstabbing Trump that they’d stay home.

Just my opinion. I loved DeSantis until I learned he might pull such a stunt on Trump. The backing of Paul Ryan, the Bush clan, the globalist financing and the FOX love affair....it’s all just confirmation of what’s going on.

My hope (although doubtful) is that this is all theater and that Trump will pick DeSantis as his VP. They’d be unstoppable.

Reagan #1
Washington #2
Trump #3
DeSantis #4

I’ll make up my mind when I hear them debate the best way to restore the Constitutional Republic...

DeSantis is patent medicine as far as I'm concerned.   Or is he his own shill too?

RINOs are behind DeSantis. He may not be one for now but they are taking the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” route and leaching on to DeSantis, hoping to change him or make him owe them. They know they don’t have a chance with any of their own and they can’t buy Trump. DeSantis will need to be watched carefully. Trump needs to get back in and stamp out the RINOs, Bushes and Cheneys once and for all. DeSantis won’t do that.

Time will tell, but bear in mind that the Bushes and other Rino trash would throw their support behind any viable alternative to Donald Trump.

Trump not only defeated Jeb!, he humiliated him. Likewise for the rest of the Bush “dynasty”. Same for all the other GOP establishment hacks that were trotted out.

So if the Bushes weren’t supporting DeSantis, they’d be supporting Haley or “anyone else but Trump”.

I’ve been saying for months that the last thing we need in the White House is another Ivy League lawyer who has never worked outside government in his life.

I’ve also decided that I won’t support any presidential candidate unless his or her home has been raided by the Biden Gestapo.

I still think it’s cute that anyone will even think that the problems will be solved by voting.

Nobody owes DeSantis a thing but Trump deserves to have justice. We shouldn't forget how embattled, however effective, he and his administration were. MAGA!

I’m guessing the Bushes see him as the lesser of two evils in their minds and it could be his military service and he’s a politician..a good one by any means and Florida loves him.

Ron DeSantis is up against one very hard fact in Florida. The “Resign to run” law REQUIRES he resign from the office of Governor before he can legally announce for ANY other office, and frankly, Florida still needs his hand on the wheel.

The Florida legislature COULD change that law, of course, with a near supermajority in both houses, but is that a wise idea? The current term of Governor ends in January 2027, and DeSantis is termed out anyway at that time, but still plenty of time to get into the 2028 primary season. Sitting on this wave until then is the single most important reason that Ron DeSantis should not be wasting his opportunities for the very short-term “benefit” of denying Trump a third run for office in 2024.
