Here’s how I look at it:

DeSantis losing badly in Gov race, more than 20 points down and time running out.

DeSantis very much needs Trump’s endorsement and asks him for it.

Trump gives DeSantis the endorsement he so much needed and DeSantis runs very pro-Trump ads (very cute ones, with MAGA hat, helping his son “build that wall”, baby in MAGA onesie) and rides to victory BECAUSE OF TRUMP.

DeSantis does a great job as Gov, tackling all of the red meat issues to cement him with MAGA base.

Establishment RINOS need a candidate to back, because it simply cannot be that badass Trump, as their swamp activities must be protected. Who better than DeSantis?

DeSantis gets courted by the Establishment and his drive and political ambition seem to be getting the better of him. The fact that he would turn around and primary the very person who got him where he is, to me, shows his true colors and displays a disgusting lack of character and honor.

DeSantis could easily wait until 2028. He’s a young man and should complete his Gov time. This would also show some respect and loyalty to the man who got him where he is. This would also not throw chaos into the MAGA base.

DeSantis, if he was the nominee would lose. Many, many people in the MAGA base would be disgusted enough with his selfish political ambition and for backstabbing Trump that they’d stay home.

Just my opinion. I loved DeSantis until I learned he might pull such a stunt on Trump. The backing of Paul Ryan, the Bush clan, the globalist financing and the FOX love affair....it’s all just confirmation of what’s going on.

My hope (although doubtful) is that this is all theater and that Trump will pick DeSantis as his VP. They’d be unstoppable.

You like to mention Trump helping DeSantis in 2018, but fail to mention DeSantis helping Trump carry Florida in 2016 and 2020.

Discounting that is dishonest.

DeSantis repaid Trump’s support and then gets attacked by Trump for no reason other than Trump’s thirst for power.

Sorry, but Trump looks small attacking the true conservative who never attacked Trump first.

Maybe not. I remember Senator Howard Baker resigning in the 1980s so he could concentrate on the 1988 presidential race, still several years away.

But by New Hampshire and Iowa in 1988, he performed so poorly, he quit soon after the race began.

He later said it was a mistake to resign from the Senate. That as Senator, he would have stayed in the news, so that he would have run a stronger campaign.

The takeaway: DeSantis might lose his luster by 2028. He has to strike while, as governor, he's in the news.

They can’t run on the same ticket because they’re from the same state. Trump is registered in Florida now and has been for years.

Come on people this is basic.

Provided we had honest elections. Equal access to social media also helps.

But we have neither. So it's uphill regardless of who's on the GOP ticket.

I’m inclined to agree with you. Actually, I think all your points are good.
We’ll see what happens…
