Who's behind Ron DeSantis, then?
FR ^ | March 3 | RF

Posted on 03/02/2023 11:51:39 PM PST by RandFan

I have some genuine questions and I have no malice against Ron DeSantis or his supporters but a few things trouble me about him!

He has the tacit support of the Bushes.

I know they want anyone but Trump but as one Freeper put it: Will he blow kisses back?

What does having their support mean? Does it mean Karl Rove becomes an advisor? Campaign cash, staff and what not?

Think about it.

It's not just some throw away endorsement by them it comes with serious muscle, donors, etc.

He's also visiting Texas instead of CPAC.

Will he be hanging out with Ron Paul or the Bush clan?

This will be telling to me.

I notice Fox and Murdoch are also pushing him heavily.

Again, anyone but Trump is the cry but that also comes with serious muscle and TV/media coverage.

Will DeSantis sell his soul for all this and to try and be president and if he succeeded with all these connections just WHAT kind of president will he be?

THIS is what I'm thinking and what worries me.

I much prefer Trump the disruptor. Tried and tested and you know what you're getting.

Whether you like him or not Ron is much more of a conventional politician.

Just some thoughts, FRiends...

“I still think it’s cute that anyone will even think that the problems will be solved by voting.”

You’re right about that. It’s beyond cute; it’s precious. We never “will” win another election.

Trump made some truly awful hiring decisions.

No argument there!

Please circulate and make it understood this view is a compilation of facts and conclusions drawn from prominent conservatives.

We don’t want Ron to get hurt. The greater battle is Trump against the Establishment and the greater war is MAGA against NWO.

Let’s hope Ron survives the damage coming to him. Let’s hope we can extricate him from the Rove Camp and redeem him later. Americans are forgiving. He’s a good man, just caught in a tight spot.

Yep. Just be careful of the slick talk.

He has a great record - no one denies this - but it’s not relevant.

He’s gong to run on: “I cut taxes to their lowest in FL for 50 years. I also did this and that”

It all sounds great but who cares.

He’s supposedly running for president not governor (with all due respect to him and his supporters).

The people deserve to know what is his foreign policy and who he intends to appoint.

Is he a neocon? why is so quiet on this?

“Desantis didn’t-and wouldn’t-turn the country over to Fauci.”

I know he lies and says that FL didn’t shut down, but it did. Friends who spend winters in FL were very clear how they lived their lives for several weeks/months.

Maybe SD was the only state that didn’t shut down.

It’s a stupid law...Of course it should be changed. Should never have been there in the first place.

This is where I part company with True Blue republicans. The law you say is stupid should be the law of the land for every elected position in this country.

Yes. Being Governor of a state is quite different than President of 50 states, plus territories.

Oh goodness gracious. He’s been around for over 5 years+ and has a long track record. Those people you mentioned do not like RDS either - they just hate Trump - and they know RDS is the only chance of Trump not being the nominee in 2024. Trump installed bad people across his government. RDS did not. Trump is not going to win the suburbs. RDS can and will. RDS is Trump without the baggage and egotism.

Oh yes we need to be respectful and perhaps Trump does too 😂

This whole campaign of his (if he goes ahead) risks tearing not only FR apart but the GOP itself as he will no doubt have his supporters...

I agree with Freepers who say what he’s doing could be very damaging and why is he in such a hurry anyway?

I have previously read about what was actually said, and nowhere did Soros say that he preferred DeSantis or that he supported him. He gave DeSantis a back-handed compliment, insulted Trump and then said that if DeSantis were chosen as the GOP candidate, then Trump might run as a third-party candidate which would give the Democrats a landslide. If you have read otherwise, please provide the link.

At the moment, I’m behind DeSantis. Right now, I’d like to see a DeSantis/Youngkin ticket, though it’s early days.

DeSantis has been very strong with respect to education, taking on the education lobby, the unions, and the woke administrators. The sad state of education should be a priority for any governor or president but most do little or nothing to cure the rot throughout the US education system. DeSantis has the good fortune to have a GOP legislature supporting most of his agenda.

The Trump term in office highlighted the major problem with Washington any candidate with a conservative platform elected in 2024 will face. Trump quickly learned his biggest obstacles were the moderate Republicans in Congress, particularly the leadership (McConnell and Ryan), the entrenched federal bureaucracy that acts independently of any real oversight, and the media which acts as the propaganda organ for the collectivist supreme state.

Whether it be Trump, a DeSantis who is not controlled by big donor money or the RINO’s, or Rand Paul the key question is how will the new POTUS govern with the entrenched opposition of the institutions described above in alliance with the Democrat Party? A Democrat majority in Congress will thwart a MAGA president at every turn as demonstrated during the last two years of Donald Trump. A Republican controlled Congress will intentionally slow down and thwart much of a conservative agenda as evidenced during the first two years of the Trump administration. Remember the GOP majority in Congress during Trump’s first two years would not even appropriate money for the southern border wall 70% of the American people supported. Republican Congresses have demonstrated zero interest in making meaningful cuts to the federal bureaucracy much less eliminating entire departments and programs. As for oversight, how many Constitution hating federal judges have been impeached and removed by a Republican Congress in this century? Zero. How will this change under a second Trump or DeSantis administration?

BS. DeSantis has been ONLY SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE in Florida.
DS is supported by Club for Growth which is as GLOBALIST as one can get. Only Trump is truly America First because he does not need sugar daddy’s to live in Mar-a-Lago.

No one says Trump is perfect.

He has many faults. Maybe Trump 2.0 will be an improved version. It sounds like it from the videos he’s putting out and I kind of trust him.

You’re asking a lot more of DeSantis than anyone asked of Trump in 2016.

I agree it’s early days but Rove and the Bushes give me the jitters.

Also Hostage answered most of my questions with a very thorough and researched post.

Lets see what happens...

“Trump the disruptor. Tried and tested and you know what you’re getting.”

You’re getting staffing appointments like Chris Wray, Rod Rosenstein, etc. While you ask valid questions that warrant consideration and answers, the folks attempting to submarine DeSantis should exercise a little caution as not all of the electorate that voted for Trump are sheep.

How many of the globalist supported Trump in 2016 and 2020? Answer a lot. RDS has a public track record. Perfect? Nope but better than Trump’s. The one ding for RDS was covid the first few months but Trump was worse for even longer and still pushing the “vaccines” as recently as 3 months ago.

“Desantis ... would bring his own team from Florida”

Bush brought his own team — Cheney, Rove, et al. Terrible.
