That’s sad. I’m from around that general area on the PA side. These are salt-of-the-earth, hard-working people just trying to survive, who don’t engage in high drama. If anything, I’d say they’re understating how bad it is. And that’s considering they have no idea what the real situation is, as the Feds won’t give them any info. They all could be dead people walking.

There are financial considerations of course. But one would think that if a person truly believed his life, or his children’s lives, were at serious risk, he would take his family out of harm’s way regardless of job, school or other consequences. It makes no sense for a person (not confined in a jail or nursing home etc) who truly believes staying is very dangerous to do so.

I am from Pittsburgh but live in Eastern Ohio on the Ohio River about 58 miles from East Palestine. I am a bit concerned myself too. I keep hearing rumors and stories of the true cause from the engineer not following orders to stop or slow down to bad track to maybe even the Russians. I don't knw if they are dead people walking, some people can take a lot of abuse nd exposure and survive OK but is is a huge chance and roll of the dice. It's like my parents, I lost Mom almost 10 years ago, inflammatory breast cancer at the age of 75 and she was an office worker all her life while my father is 85 now and has been exposed to chemicals from the time he was in Korea in the Army in 1955 as a photographer and then continued on in that profession until the late 1970s and then worked at the coke plant on Neville Island. He will be 86 this year. He has COPD but he's still alive. Still we do need to find the truth here and limit our exposure to that noxious stuff.

BTW, at the coke plant, there had been many times where my father question loading some train cars with coke where they were listing 15 or 20 degrees but the boss man said to load them anyhoo.

All I can say is I'm like Diogenes of Sinope, looking for an honest man and an honest answer.

That town is a ghost town in the making. Home values will be worthless. And the only reason the feds are now doing something is because Trump make the trip with supplies. If Trump had not gone there, no one from DC would have paid any attention to it.
