My husband disappears to Thailand weekly, spends hundreds — he won’t tell me what he’s up to

A 70-year-old woman has shared on UK television that her husband of almost 50 years “keeps disappearing” to Thailand and sending “hundreds of pounds there monthly”.

Speaking on a segment called Dear Deirdre phone-in on This Morning, the anonymous caller who went by the name ‘Julie’ said he leaves without telling her, and is tight-lipped about where the cash is going.

His response when she inquires where he is going is equally charming. “None of your business,” she says he retorts.

While drugs, sex and life altering operations are what Thailand is famous for it is also known for its medical tourism. Testosterone treatments, dental work. Cosmetic surgery are popular with medical tourists. The doctors and dentist are trained in the US and UK. Considering it is England we are talking about that is a possibility especially the dental. India and the Philippines would be a better choice for medical tourism, but it is a possibility.

However, if I were a betting man, I would bet he is taking a tour down memory lane with a younger pretty tour guide. Riding lightening once last time before the lights go out for good.

UK to Thailand weekly? that’s more like a milk run. By the time he does the covid checkins, finds his baggage, etc. he only has about two hours left to do the thing that is nobody’s bizness. And the Julie didn’t say how long he’s been doing the routine? Since 1975? Vet? She didn’t seem to be complaining about the money so maybe she just needs a hobby?

A few things rubbed off on the English from the British Raj. Chuteney, though the stuff is far better when it comes from India than the British versions like Major Grey's or Branston Pickle, and curry night. Provides a bit of spice to an otherwise dull palate.
