Special education teacher, Alicia Messing, testified before the Arizona Senate Education Committee in opposition to Arizona bill SB1700. The bill would give parents greater insight into materials used by their schools and a procedure for objecting to material they find objectionable, especially those that are found to be ‘lewd or sexual in nature, that promote gender fluidity or gender pronouns or that groom children into normalizing pedophilia’.
Messing seemed quite confident that her master’s degree qualified her to make these decisions for parents.
She went even further to explain her philosophy with the following quote:
‘The purpose of public education is not to teach only what parents want their children to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to be taught.’
‘What do the parents have?’ Messing asked, after touting her master’s degree.

Maybe things were different in the past, but I’ve met very few people in my career/life with graduate degrees who demonstrated any level of competence or intelligence. The opposite is usually true.
The exceptions - some MBAs, hard sciences, engineering, law.
I used to think medicine was part of the exceptions, but Covid changed my mind about that. I’ll give them a 50/50 chance.
Advanced degrees in education, communications, sociology, psychology, etc. are huge red flags that you’re dealing with an arrogant and possibly dangerous asshat.
YMMV.
A master’s degree in arrogance, is what she has.
Hi Jill.
In many cases parents have a lot more that a M.Ed. degree from a school that ranks #317 (out of 443) in the 2022-2023 US News & World Report edition of Best National Universities.
In any case, it's the parents whose taxes pay the teacher's salary, and who are ultimately responsible for what their children are taught!!!
Teachers vs. America: the Saga Continues.
These days, when they teach kids the alphabet, they start with the letters LGBTQ.
An affirmative-action master’s degree in an imaginary subject means you is smart!
Master’s degree , where did you buy it ? LOL
Some of these teachers see parent/s that are to be blunt, stupid.
That can foster a feeling of superiority
Got a lot more than that, combat experience a more than that, raised by nuns.
But above and beyond any of that, strict orders from the Lord himself to make sure the kids he gave me are educated to His satisfaction which automatically excludes leaving them with arrogant teachers w BS education classes
Here's a conversation she had with a professor (paraphrased):
Prof: People should raise their kids according to these theories.
Mom: How many children do you have, Dr. _______?
Prof: None. I'm not married.
Mom: Well, I have eight children. You're theories are total b.s.
THE CHILDREN!!!
I was in construction management. Had another company’s owner involved in a large civic meeting on a large industry dispute listen to my summary of issues and complimenting me in an aside he said, “I didn’t know that you are an attorney, you have outdone my in-house counsel. I had alway thought you were an engineer.” I turned to him and said, “Bill, I am a college dropout due to the Vietnam era, in our company, the attorneys and the engineers work for me. We don’t let them make business decisions”
They forget the parents are only Renting them
Arizona bill SB1700 will be vetoed by that thieving bitch Hobbs.
Her argument is rightfully discected, demolished and discarded on Twitter, but she’ll never read those comments.
She was not ‘schooled’ by the parents, as the headline seems to indicate.
This open discussion is still valuable. Parents and conservatives don’t feel alone in their opposition to
Social Justice Warriors like her.
Exactly.
