Nice. And with hands the size of dinner plates (like Leadbelly). I just missed seeing him perform in the Guitar Summit tour — he’d fallen ill on the tour, and that was the illness that ended his life.

I always thought SRV got his inspiration from Joe for Riviera Paradise

I sure wish people would start posting these videos to rumble or some other site besides communist utube.

Thanks for posting.
Had never heard of him.
Smooth and effortless as Chet Atkins.
I like some Jazz, but not all.
He had endurance.

Thanks for posting! Wonderful. A great musician. It always amuses me to see the various lists of ‘the greatest guitarists’ etc. and have people like him not even mentioned.

Here is Joe pass (studio recording) playing rhythm with Oscar Peterson on electric piano:

Heard it on WEMU, Ann Arbor in the 80s and was thereby introduced to both.

Saw hi. At the Pablo jazz festival in LA many years ago with Ella’s.

He's very good.
But my money is still on Roy Clark.

The thread title is silly. I’ve seen Joe Pass play solo up close. I was probably 25 feet away. He was an amazing guy and a one of a kind.
However there are many great guitarists of differing styles besides Joe Pass.

Listening to Pass and Peterson trade 4’s is one of the great pleasures made possible by Western Civilization to modern people.
